What is consciousness?

Dr. William Braud is one of a variety of scientists who have performed rigorous, laboratory-controlled studies proving that mind-to-mind communication is very real, and repeatable in a science lab. Participants were able to induce measurable changes in the electrical conductivity of another person’s skin at a distance without their conscious awareness.

Many of these experiments were done in rooms shielded from all electromagnetic signals — proving this phenomenon cannot be explained by any known energy waves in the conventional spectrum.

By 1929, over 148 different cases of “multiples” had been documented in science — where multiple scientists independently make the same breakthroughs at the same time. This included calculus, the theory of evolution, color photography, thermometers, telescopes, typewriters and steamboats.

There is wonderful, abundant proof that “extrasensory perception” is a natural gift we all possess — but these groundbreaking studies have received very little publicity. Could the basic energy of the Cosmos be conscious in some way?

Is DNA an energy wave that assembles life?

In 2011, Nobel laureate Luc Montagnier demonstrated “DNA teleportation,” where ordinary water molecules in a sealed test tube assembled into DNA. A tube with ordinary water was placed next to another tube that had water with trace amounts of DNA in it. Both tubes were electrified with a weak 7Hz current. Some of the hydrogen and oxygen molecules in the tube with pure, sterile water transformed into DNA — by a process still unknown to Western science.

Sir Edmund Hoyle, the co-discoverer of the DNA molecule, and Chandra Wickramasinghe noticed that 99 percent of all the dust in the galaxy had peculiar optical properties. The only material that could create these effects in the laboratory was freeze-dried bacteria.In 1980, Sir Hoyle said, “I suspect that the cosmic quality of microbiology will seem as obvious to future generations as the Sun being the centre of or our solar system seems obvious to the present generation.”

Can DNA be energetically transformed from one species to another?

 The agricultural corporation Ciba-Geigy discovered they could transform existing plant seeds into extinct varieties — simply by zapping them with a weak electrostatic current. This generated stronger and faster-growing wheat, extinct fern species and tulips with thorns.

Italian scientist Pier Luigi Ighina energetically transformed a living apricot tree into an apple tree, actually causing the fruits on the branches to metamorphosize in 16 days. He also zapped a rat with DNA-wave information from a cat, causing the rat to grow a cat-like tail in four days.
Korean scientist Dr. Dzang Kangeng got patent #N1828665 for a device that used microwaves to transfer the DNA-wave information of a duck into a pregnant mother hen. Roughly 80 percent of her eggs hatched as half-duck, half-chicken hybrids.

Dr. Peter Gariaev zapped salamander eggs with a low-level laser and redirected the beam into frog eggs. The frog eggs experienced a complete metamorphosis, and grew into healthy adult salamanders.

Is there intelligent human life throughout the galaxy?

Human life could be a galactic or even universal template — potentially appearing on every habitable, watery planet in the galaxy thanks to the quantum properties of DNA.

The majority of ancient cultures, worldwide, reported interactions with human-looking “gods” or “angels” that gave them powerful assistance — including agriculture, animal husbandry, spoken and written language, construction techniques, mathematics and science, as well as spiritual teachings of morality, ethics and becoming a more loving person.

Highly unusual human skulls have been found around the world, including a series discovered in Boskop, South Africa whose brain capacity is twice that of normal humans — with large heads and small, childlike faces. They were given highly honorable burials — as Discover Magazine revealed in 2009. Bizarre elongated skulls have also been discovered in Peru, Bolivia, Russia and elsewhere- – closely matching the appearance of early Egyptian pharaohs — and some of them are still on display in museums.

Is evolution being driven by waves of energy in the galaxy?

Drs. David Raup and James Sepkoski discovered a 26-million-year cycle in the evolution of life on Earth after creating the most exhaustive fossil catalog ever assembled. Fearing embarrassment, they worked harder to try to eliminate the pattern — but it only became stronger and clearer as they did more research.

Recently, Drs. Robert Muller and Robert Rohde discovered a 62-million-year cycle within the same data, going back to the dawn of complex fossil life on Earth. These cyclical events may be triggered by galactic energy waves.

Dr. William Tifft discovered concentric bands of microwave energies within galaxies that slowly expand away from their centers. Dr. Harold Aspden’s unique physics equations suggest these separate, distinct microwave regions may possess different properties on a quantum level.

Life appears to be a natural law — an “emergent phenomenon” within quantum mechanics that appears wherever and however it can, and is periodically reprogrammed by energetic forces that can be reproduced in a laboratory.

Are there vortex points and energy lines on earth?

In the early 1900s, Sir Alfred Watkins discovered that many different sacred sites in England, from the Stone Age right through to modern abbeys and cathedrals, were built upon straight paths he called “ley lines.”

Ivan T. Sanderson rigorously charted where all the ships and planes were disappearing on Earth, and found ten different “vortex points” – -including the Bermuda Triangle. Strangely, these points were equidistant — and by adding the north and south poles as well, Russian scientists then found the points assembled into a geometric pattern. NASA / NOAA scientists Drs. Hanshou Liu and Athelstan Spilhaus independently discovered this same geometric pattern in the structure of undersea volcanic ridges and mountain ranges worldwide.

Goncharov, Morozov and Makarov did a massive, worldwide survey of ancient sites – compiling some 3,300 different locations in total, including Watkins’ sites — and found that every single one of them was built on this Grid. But why?

Why were the pyramids built?

The Great Pyramid was originally covered with mirror-polished white limestone, causing it to look like a perfect, gleaming marble sculpture — and Col. Howard-Vyse discovered surviving casing stones in the 1800s. There are many unsolved mysteries regarding the extreme precision of the GP’s construction — which vastly exceeds the technical capabilities of today.

Pyramids appear all over the Earth – about 130 in Egypt, roughly 300 in Mesoamerica, over 100 in the Xian province of China, at least one strong contender in Bosnia, and 1776 cone-shaped pyramid mounds on the tiny island of Bohol in the Philippines — among others.

Russian scientist Dr. Alexander Golod began building pyramids out of PVC pipes and fiberglass sheets in 1990. Stunning experiments were conducted in them by mainstream Russian scientific institutions, showing profound healing effects on biological life as well as the earth’s climate — but they could not find any academic journal that would publish their results.

Can we dematerialize and teleport physical matter?

 Einstein proposed that as an object approaches light speed, it gets more and more massive – ultimately reaching infinite mass. Dr. Vladimir Ginzburg discovered that this same Einstein equation could be inverted — turned upside-down — causing an object to lose mass and dematerialize as it reaches the speed of light. No other laws of physics are violated by inverting this equation.

Protons, neutrons, electrons, atoms and clusters of atoms have all been observed to pop into a “wave” state, losing any solid identity as particles. This may be happening every time their internal quantum movement slightly exceeds the speed of light — which is not currently believed possible.

Russian scientist Dr. Nikolai Kozyrev discovered that by simply dropping a solid object on a hard floor, its weight decreased for about 20 minutes. Ancient stonemasons may have been able to energize stone so it can lift easily — and be soft enough to mold like moist clay.

Is time travel really possible?

The Wheeler-DeWitt equation reveals that quantum physics does not require time to be linear – in fact it cannot be linear in the absolute sense. Einstein proved that as we move through space,

we also move through time — meaning that by accelerating to near-light speed, we could move through hundreds of Earth years in just a few minutes. Physicist Dewey Larson was able to unify quantum mechanics and astrophysics by postulating a “Time Region”, or time-space — a parallel reality in which time as we know it becomes three-dimensional. By simply moving through space in this parallel reality, we actually travel in time.

When you speed up an atom so its internal movement is faster than the speed of light, it may be moving into time-space. If it then moves to a new location in the parallel reality before returning, it will not only have teleported — it will have traveled through time.

Is the pineal gland a working third eye- and psychic center?

 Human beings may be a Galactic design – and once we reach a certain level of evolution, we may be able to “walk between worlds” and exist in our own “local” reality as well as the parallel reality of time-space. This would make it possible to achieve feats such as teleportation and time travel without any technology.

The key to these fantastic abilities may be the pineal gland. Many ancient traditions incorporated pineal-gland-shaped symbols, and some mystery school teachings said this was the center of all psychic perception. Modern science reveals the pineal gland is lined with retina-like tissue on the inside that is then wired into the brain by a “phototransduction cascade” — just like the two conventional eyes in the body.

Floating crystals inside the pineal gland may be picking up and releasing photons from time-space, causing the person to see fleeting visions normally written off as daydreaming or imagination.

The looking glass- a reverse-engineering of the pineal gland?

Several different people who claim to have been employed by government defense contractors, and proved their bonafides, have independently stated that Project Looking Glass is essentially a reverse-engineered pineal gland, but on a much larger scale.

Three rings rotate around a barrel of water — shielding it off from conventional electromagnetic signals. Photons begin coming through the water, showing images from wherever the person operating the device is imagining themselves to be – not only in space but in time.

Such a device could give an incredible advantage in steering elections, financial markets and potential future events. Most interestingly, those who have used the Looking Glass device to allegedly see into the future have reported that nothing is visible at the end of the year 2012 — the images merge into white light. Anything viewed after this “time nexus” seems to be the product of the imagination of the viewer and little else.

Golden Age prophesies

According to prominent historians Santillana and von Dechend, dozens of different ancient mythologies, worldwide, were ‘encoded’ with information about a 25,920-year cycle in the Earth’s axis — likely by the ancient human ‘Gods’ who visited them. The analogy of a mill for grinding grain was often used, apparently to symbolize the Earth’s axis. In many myths the axis of the mill breaks, causing major earth changes — but a Golden Age results.

Western religious beliefs of an apocalypse can all be traced back to far more ancient texts that inspired them. Historians Boyce and Grenet argue that the purest surviving remnants of these texts are the Zoroastrian scriptures. These texts say Earth will not be destroyed as we move through this process.

Evil is gradually worn down and defeated by the efforts of the just, and time itself will change in a fundamental way — creating Fraso-Kererti, the dawning of the Golden Age.

Disclosure

 Symbols, paintings and written text, placed prominently on American currency and in the US Capitol, clearly predict that the ancient human ‘Gods’ return at the end of the 25,920-year cycle. Scientists Prove DNA Can Be Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies

THE HUMAN DNA IS A BIOLOGICAL INTERNET and superior in many aspects to the artificial one. Russian scientific research directly or indirectly explains phenomena such as clairvoyance, intuition, spontaneous and remote acts of healing, self healing, affirmation techniques, unusual light/auras around people (namely spiritual masters), mind’s influence on weather patterns and much more. In addition, there is evidence for a whole new type of medicine in which DNA can be influenced and reprogrammed by words and frequencies WITHOUT cutting out and replacing single genes.

Only 10% of our DNA is being used for building proteins. It is this subset of DNA that is of interest to western researchers and is being examined and categorized. The other 90% are considered “junk DNA.” The Russian researchers, however, convinced that nature was not dumb, joined linguists and geneticists in a venture to explore those 90% of “junk DNA.” Their results, findings and conclusions are simply revolutionary! According to them, our DNA is not only responsible for the construction of our body but also serves as data storage and in communication. The Russian linguists found that the genetic code, especially in the apparently useless 90%, follows the same rules as all our human languages. To this end they compared the rules of syntax (the way in which words are put together to form phrases and sentences), semantics (the study of meaning in language forms) and the basic rules of grammar. They found that the alkalines of our DNA follow a regular grammar and do have set rules just like our languages. So human languages did not appear coincidentally but are a reflection of our inherent DNA.

The Russian biophysicist and molecular biologist Pjotr Garjajev and his colleagues also explored the vibrational behavior of the DNA. [For the sake of brevity I will give only a summary here. For further exploration please refer to the appendix at the end of this article.] The bottom line was: “Living chromosomes function just like solitonic/ holographic computers using the endogenous DNA laser radiation.” This means that they managed for example to modulate certain frequency patterns onto a laser ray and with it influenced the DNA frequency and thus the genetic information itself. Since the basic structure of DNA-alkaline pairs and of language (as explained earlier) are of the same structure, no DNA decoding is necessary.

One can simply use words and sentences of the human language! This, too, was experimentally proven! Living DNA substance (in living tissue, not in vitro) will always react to language-modulated laser rays and even to radio waves, if the proper frequencies are being used.

This finally and scientifically explains why affirmations, autogenous training, hypnosis and the like can have such strong effects on humans and their bodies. It is entirely normal and natural for our DNA to react to language. While western researchers cut single genes from the DNA strands and insert them elsewhere, the Russians enthusiastically worked on devices that can influence the cellular metabolism through suitable modulated radio and light frequencies and thus repair genetic defects.

Garjajev’s research group succeeded in proving that with this method chromosomes damaged by x-rays for example can be repaired. They even captured information patterns of a particular DNA and transmitted it onto another, thus reprogramming cells to another genome. ?So they successfully transformed, for example, frog embryos to salamander embryos simply by transmitting the DNA information patterns! This way the entire information was transmitted without any of the side effects or disharmonies encountered when cutting out and re-introducing single genes from the DNA. This represents an unbelievable, world-transforming revolution and sensation! All this by simply applying vibration and language instead of the archaic cutting-out procedure! This experiment points to the immense power of wave genetics, which obviously has a greater influence on the formation of organisms than the biochemical processes of alkaline sequences.

Esoteric and spiritual teachers have known for ages that our body is programmable by language, words and thought. This has now been scientifically proven and explained. Of course the frequency has to be correct. And this is why not everybody is equally successful or can do it with always the same strength. The individual person must work on the inner processes and maturity in order to establish a conscious communication with the DNA. The Russian researchers work on a method that is not dependent on these factors but will ALWAYS work, provided one uses the correct frequency.

But the higher developed an individual’s consciousness is, the less need is there for any type of device! One can achieve these results by oneself, and science will finally stop to laugh at such ideas and will confirm and explain the results. And it doesn’t end there.?The Russian scientists also found out that our DNA can cause disturbing patterns in the vacuum, thus producing magnetized wormholes! Wormholes are the microscopic equivalents of the so-called Einstein-Rosen bridges in the vicinity of black holes (left by burned-out stars).? These are tunnel connections between entirely different areas in the universe through which information can be transmitted outside of space and time. The DNA attracts these bits of information and passes them on to our consciousness. This process of hyper communication is most effective in a state of relaxation. Stress, worries or a hyperactive intellect prevent successful hyper communication or the information will be totally distorted and useless.

Energy Forecast – The Year of Epic Transformation

Hi my amazing friend,

As the year 2011 comes to a close, and we briefly reflect back at what this year has brought into our personal & collective lives, it becomes clear that 2011 has been the year of epic transformation.

Noticing What Is Already Here

As a result of habit & conditioning, many of us (including those in conscious communities) may have a tendency to always look for the next big ‘thing,’ ‘event,’ or ‘experience’ to happen we feel will bring us closer to the expected changes we deem necessary as proof we are in fact ‘awakening.’ Although having a sense of excitement about the amazing possibilities that may be in store for us is healthy, being heavily focused on what’s next all the time can really prevent us from noticing the miraculous transformation that is already happening right now.

Let’s take a quick inventory of some confirmations we’ve had this year letting us know we have indeed moved into an era of higher global consciousness. In areas of community & social change, the Middle East paved the way early in 2011 & is still undergoing a radical facelift moving away from the archaic fear tactics created by leaders in that region for thousands of years. Now, people from all walks of life are no longer allowing themselves to be ‘led’ by a select few who have thrived on making “fear” a big part of the daily life of their people. Since early 2011, social change has spread far & wide across the globe and is now more evident than ever with the Occupy Wall Street movement. No matter how much the media tries to trivialize this movement, it has lasted long enough to begin changing the global conversation. The foundation of this conversation being, how do we, as a society, step back into our Divine power as a whole rather than give our power away to a select few?

The change is also starting to be felt in the monetary systems. For the past few months, as I mentioned in some previous forecasts, the dismantling of the World Financial Banking systems has been well on course. For example, if we look at what’s happening in Europe and the United States, we can see that some countries are really struggling to hold on to their old ways of doing business and as a result their economies have already or are starting to crash. This is creating an unstable atmosphere which in turn creates a rippling effect around the world. In fact, on November 28th European leaders came to the U.S. to discuss how they can move out of the economic crisis they have created. This move is definitely a sign that we are on a brink of a major breakthrough, because the old ways of running things is no longer working.

Another confirmation that the old paradigm is losing steam very quickly is the fact that nothing can remain hidden anymore due to the beautiful discovery of social media platforms through the internet. Literally, whether it’s Prime Ministers, News Corporation Owners, Renowned Football Coaches, or anyone/anything operating from lack of integrity, everything is coming out in the open for the world to see. Many of us may also see this happening in our personal lives. There’s nothing to fear when there’s nothing to hide. Although many of the confirmations I just shared have people thinking its grounds to move into panic mode, all of these experiences are simply nudging us in the direction of choosing to live our lives with integrity & honesty always.

There are many other global shifts we’ve experienced this past year through geological & climate changes that also confirm Mother Earth is reconfiguring herself to support our collective shift in consciousness. There have also been new discoveries. Recently, the remains of an other-worldly being were discovered in Peru, shaking things up for the scientific community that we may not be the only beings that exist in the Universe. Also in 2011, there were a few important discoveries that went a bit un-noticed that showed us other worlds similar to our planet did indeed exist out in the cosmos. These discoveries will eventually pick up traction and come to the forefront. Of course many of us have known that life exists across all Universes, however it’s an amazing step in the right direction that the masses are also figuring it out.

Just as everything externally seems to be changing, it’s all a mirror of how we are changing from within. The year 2011 has greatly magnified the sensitivity factor in each of us. Being sensitive is actually an amazing indicator that we are becoming more clear and aware of energy, and we can no longer tolerate energy that is not in alignment with our greatest good. Whether it be sensitivity to foods we eat, old habits we are still engaging in, people we surround ourselves with, products, or movies we watch, it’s important to see if these things are enhancing our life or taking away from it. Even those who may not have classified themselves as being sensitive are starting to feel the changes. It’s up to those of us who have always been sensitive to really step up & assist those who have no clue on what’s happening within & all around them. I know it may seem challenging at times to even want to assist due to the fact that many of us “sensitives” did not have anyone supporting us, however we now have the opportunity to show ourselves how much we’ve really evolved by choosing to assist others who may be struggling.

We Are the Ones

Recently, I heard people in some conscious circles express their disappointment that ‘nothing happened’ after the Mayan Calendar came to an end on October 28th, and after passing through the November 11th energy portal. Energy dates are just here to serve as anchor points reminding us that with the power of our own intention, we are co-creating the new world. It’s interesting to observe how people react in different ways. I’ve noticed that those who focus a great deal on something/someone outside of themselves to save or fix the world are constantly disappointed with most things going on in their lives. Those who have realized that we are the creators of our lives, and are the ones we’ve been waiting for, are constantly aware of all the miraculous transformation we are creating at this time. These are usually the people actively doing their part to bring about the changes we have been witnessing on the planet.

This leads me to a message I received during a meditation recently. The message was that if we keep looking for something/someone outside of ourselves to intervene or ‘save’ us from what we perceive to be a difficult circumstance, we prevent ourselves from receiving life-changing lessons & gifts from that experience. It’s in these valuable lessons & gifts that we end the patterns that lead to those very difficult experiences. So, if we keep looking to be ‘saved,’ and let’s say it even happened at some point, we’d find a way of getting ourselves right back to the same difficult situation we were in before we were saved. Why? Because, we have not learned the lessons we were meant to learn from creating that experience. When we choose to take full responsibility that we are the creators of our lives, and are willing to walk through all of our experiences knowing that there are many gifts & blessings in them, we can then start to attract a reality more in alignment with the greatest vision we have for our lives and for the world.

Time Acceleration

Since the 11.11 gateway & the completion of the Mayan Calendar, linear time seems to have accelerated many folds. A good amount of us are feeling extremely tired and many seeming issues that we felt we had resolved seem to be popping right back up. This serves as a gauge to how far we have come with our inner healing. If we are still being triggered by these old issues, it simply lets us know that we have a little more work to do. If we’re not triggered, we know that we have moved on. Usually, after big energy shifts happen, we need to allot ourselves some time to integrate with the new energies. That’s what is happening right now. Although the moments of clarity and feeling super connected to everything are happening more often, we may still be experiencing some energy highs & lows which eventually will balance out. Feeling tired could also be coming up as a result of all the multi dimensional work we are doing during our sleep state. If we are waking up and still feeling very tired, we are most definitely working in other realms of existence.

We are being given the opportunity right now to slow down a bit, take a break, and reflect at all the blessings this year has brought us. Yes, even in the seeming challenges which I like to call blessings in disguise. It’s an excellent time to express our gratitude to the Universe within us for making the shift into higher global consciousness a very real experience. 2011 has been the year of epic transformation, wouldn’t you say so?

Emotions are the sum total of your wealth as a human being. Emotions trigger the inner pharmacopoeia, your body’s personal drugstore. In the drugstore of your body, you are the pharmacist. You write the prescription according to your emotional response or reaction to events.

Let’s look at what emotions actually are. I am frequently talking about consciousness in these newsletters. Consciousness consists of thoughts that we hold over time, thoughts that we think over and over again until they become beliefs. Consciousness also consists of the feelings that we have about the beliefs that we hold. So we have thoughts and feelings in our consciousness. The term emotion simply means the ‘energy-in-motion’ pertaining to the feelings that we have about the beliefs that we hold.

Beliefs-feelings-emotion (energy in motion)

Your emotions create a corresponding chemical release inside your physical form. The endocrine system, which is responsible for the chemical responses to your emotional choices, will evolve. New chemicals will be produced inside your body that will help you change. Choosing a different way of receiving or translating reality will trigger inner doorways to open and produce substances that will take you into the higher realms.

How do we do that? Well, the first step is to honor your emotions. That’s not to say that we become irresponsible with our actions; only that we are to notice how we are feeling and if we are sad — feel it. If we are angry — feel it. If we are frightened — feel it. Do we dwell in these feelings? — NO. Do we project them onto someone else? — NO. Do we acknowledge them, feel them responsibly and move on? — YES. You will notice that when you feel the feelings responsibly, there is an immediate release of toxins from your consciousness. This of course is being matched in your physical body’s consciousness and will help you avoid dis-ease. You feel better.

Let’s look at an example. Suppose you were told that you have breast cancer. My heart would go out to you as this is an experience that I have had, however, I would know at the same time that there is nothing for you to fear.

Breast cancer indicates to a metaphysician, such as myself, that you hold particular beliefs and feelings in your consciousness. Louise Hay has done a brilliant job in researching the belief system of people and the resulting physical dis-ease in her book “You Can Heal Your Life”. In the case of cancer she sites “Deep hurt. Long-standing resentment. Deep secret or grief eating away at the self. Carrying hatreds. “What’s the use?” She goes on to say that the breasts represent mothering, nurturing, and nourishment.

In my practice we would search your consciousness to find the exact beliefs that you are holding regarding these matters. Once we find them, we would examine them and most importantly feel the feelings and emotions attached to them. In doing so, you will release the frozen energy of the beliefs and free yourself to experience a new belief. In turn your feelings will lift and your emotions will be brighter. This along with honoring your physical body for telling you about the problem in your consciousness, will trigger your complete healing.

One of the most important keys that I have received regarding the healing of dis-ease is:

Love yourself. Honor the vehicle that you occupy and act as if you are priceless. Act as if you lucked out and received the best thing possible — your body. Honor Earth as well, with love and respect, for it is here, on Earth, that you stage your fanciful dramas. Love yourself and Earth on your ride through the universe, and your journey will be lighter.

Your body is going to demonstrate absolutely miraculous abilities. Your sensitivities will develop to such a degree that smells and senses will have greater impact on your moods, emotions, and general sense of well-being. You will say, “I found that when I sprinkle this herb on my food, or when I have this smell in my house, I have more energy. And when I use this one, I am quieter.” Learn how to use the plants around you that are gifts from the Living Earth. …

On the Nature of Boundaries

Awhile back, at one of my workshops, a woman approached me quite upset.

She had been having lunch with other participants in the seminar and the topic of trust had come up. She admitted to the group that she had trouble trusting others. Her new-found friends began to immediately offer ways to help her.

One suggested affirmations like “I fully and completely trust the universe.” Another offered a visualization exercise to see herself as a flower of light fully open to the world. A third offered her a private healing session at half price. Everyone at the table seemed to agree that if she trusted enough, the universe would mirror itself back to her that way.

In other words, she should be trusting to everyone and then they would act in a trustworthy way. This person, new to personal growth, left the group quite dismayed. She found me in a hallway between sessions and asked if she could run something by me.

“What do you think?” she asked. “Can I trust the universe?”

“Trust the universe to do what?” I asked.

She blinked and proceeded with her line of thought. “They say I need to trust more”

“Trust whom,” I asked.

“Everyone.”

“Rubbish,” I said.

She blinked again and a slight smile came across her face.

“Tell me,” I asked. “Who in your life, right now, do you find trouble trusting?”

“My boyfriend,” she responded without a moment’s hesitation.

“And what has he done?” I asked.

“Well he says he loves me, but he has cheated on me twice. I wonder if I can trust him.” ”

How did it feel when you found him cheating?” I asked. “It hurt.”

“I think that your natural gut-wisdom is telling you to put up a boundary to protect yourself.”

“But is it spiritual?” she asked, truly perplexed.


As a psychotherapist it has been my observation, for some time now, that much in the New Age is psychologically dysfunctional. I had an engineer friend who referred to these New Age “truisms” as NABS, or New Age Bullshit. They are like those little snacks you eat at cocktail parties. They fill you up for a bit, and give the illusion of nutrition, but they are empty calories.I think that one of the NABS currently in vogue is the notion that one should let down one’s guard and be fully and completely open. As a therapist I think this idea is potentially dangerous and here’s why.We have many levels to ourselves. At one level, the transpersonal, we may be spirit, unbounded by time and space, but at another level we are mammals, like dogs, and cats, whales, dolphins and monkeys, to name a few. We have biology. And our psychological health depends upon balancing our transpersonal (out-of-time) aspects of “self” with our personal (bound by time) aspects.At the level of our biology, our body wisdom understands quite clearly the need for boundaries. Every cell has a cell wall that keeps out the world. Any cell that lets down its guard is quickly going to perish. The cellular walls set a boundary for the cellular processes inside to continue. The walls also keep out toxic invaders like viruses, bacteria and other biochemical demons.

The message? Without boundaries, there is no life.

However, the cellular walls also have little openings to the world. These portals are guarded, but if the cell senses that a visitor is beneficial, it will open the molecular doors. If the visitor is toxic, however, the doors remain closed. Among the beneficial visitors are things like oxygen and nutrition. Without these “life messengers” the cells will eventually die. The precarious forces within our animal bodies responsible for continuing life depend upon a balance between boundaries and openness.

In other words, at a cellular level, our biology has an innate wisdom to distinguish between something toxic and something life-enhancing. Biological systems set up boundaries between themselves and that which is toxic while, at the same time, they open themselves to that which brings increased life.

In the psychological realm the same principle holds true. There are situations and people that are life-enhancing and others that are toxic. The psychological task for mental and spiritual health is to distinguish between toxic people and those that are healthy. Unfortunately, while our bodies naturally create healthy boundaries, we have to learn how to create both mental and emotional boundaries between us and the world. For many of us, growing up in dysfunctional families, the skills of compassionate boundary making were never taught.

And what do I mean by compassionate boundary making? Well to explain this, I think I probably need to discuss “judgment” and “discrimination.” They are not the same thing. And this will lead us directly to the woman’s question at the beginning, “Is it spiritual to set a boundary?”

Quite simply, discrimination is assessing the apparent truth of a situation while judgment is placing a value upon the situation as “good” or “bad.” For instance, back to the young woman and her quandary about her “two-timing” boyfriend. His actions hurt her, or to be “psycho-politically correct,” she allowed herself to be hurt by his actions.

That he did this twice and might do it again is discrimination. It is logic, simple logic. This is discrimination, the act of discriminating apparent truth from bullshit. There is no judgment in this, just observation. She has observed his behavior and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to conclude that he might (probably will) do it again. If she wishes to avoid getting hurt again, she would do well to set up an emotional boundary and to become detached from his advances. This is discrimination in action.

This is different from judgment. If she were to decide that he was a “shiftless and worthless bastard,” for instance, she would be placing a value judgment on him. Discrimination, by nature, is neutral; it is not emotionally charged. It is simply a mental recognition about a reality. There is no blame or judgment in this, simply observation.

Compassionate Boundary Making first requires a discriminating look at the situation. One must clearly see the situation the way it is without romanticizing and without trying to make it into something it isn’t. If the person or situation is not healthy for you, you remove yourself. Period. End of sentence.

In the process of removing yourself from the situation you resist the temptation to judge the person or situation, as “good” or “bad.” Even though you might not understand his or her motives, and even though you might feel hurt by the situation, you give yourself and the “offender” the gift of spaciousness to do what they need to do — with one clear limitation, so long as it does not impinge on you.

I love what a southern grandmother once told a friend of mine, “Your rights end where my nose begins.” How beautifully direct and pragmatic that statement is!

One psychological task facing all of us is to distinguish between what is healthy and unhealthy. Psychological maturity requires that we act on our own behalf to separate ourselves from that which damages us. How we separate ourselves from those things that are toxic is a matter of personal style more than anything else.

As Paul Simon said in one of his songs, “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover,” there are many ways to separate ourselves from toxic situations and people.


For those of us striving to be more conscious in our actions, and perhaps, more spiritual, the task requires compassion as well. But compassion does not mean becoming a “door mat” for someone to walk all over you. Rather compassion means creating a mental and emotional space in yourself to allow other people to be themselves, even if you don’t understand or agree with them. Compassion does not, however, mean that we let others intrude into our emotional space. That is submission, which is not the same thing.As we grow in psychological and spiritual strength, we may find that we are no longer comfortable with certain persons or situations. What seemed to be nourishing or at least neutral, is now perceived as toxic. This sometimes happens with family members, spouses and friends. I am noticing that, for many of us, this phenomenon looks like it is increasing. Perhaps it is because things are speeding up and more seems to be happening in less time. Perhaps it is simply the price of self-evolution.As we pass over a line in ourselves from unconscious to conscious (I should probably say semi-conscious, to be more exact), we may find ourselves having to set boundaries with past relationships. This can be very challenging to say the least. For those of us caught in this dilemma, I suggest the Way of the White Cloud.The Way of the White Cloud is to see all things and all situations as essentially devoid of substance. What appears to be very real at the moment becomes only a memory. The apparent solidity of things and the gravity of a situation is actually a mirage, an illusion. Buddhists call this samsara. And we are caught up in it by virtue of having an embodiment. The art of living, from this viewpoint, is to live and take action without getting caught up in the snares of the illusion.

 

When clients get stuck in interpersonal conflict, I sometimes have them imagine going into the future, maybe a hundred years and look back at the situation. In almost every case the charge is dissolved. The hostility gives way to a recognition of impermanence. Why, the “wisdom mind” asks, should we get caught up in this when it is so insignificant from the vantage of expanded vision? In the realms of samsara, nothing is permanent. All is transient, like white clouds. By becoming aware of this truth, we see that we are all in the same boat, so to speak, the boat of samsara, or illusion.

It may look like someone or something has “the upper hand” at the moment, but that is true, only from one perspective. We all suffer, both the dominators and dominated, because we are, all of us, time-locked into time and space. We are also free and open, for a part of us is both unbounded pure consciousness and luminous light. This pure consciousness and luminous light may or may not be directly experienced by us, but it is there, nonetheless, like the clear sky hidden by clouds. Our clouds of obscuration, those thoughts, feelings and patterns of behavior that hold us in the samsaric lies of limitation come and go, like the clouds. But the clear sky is always there.

The spiritual task, for those of us desiring to live with more compassion, regardless of the lineages or traditions we follow, is to penetrate this level of ourselves, the place of pure mind and unbounded light. For the gift of this is that we become suffused with a direct knowledge of the relativity of all things. We can afford to be gracious in our dealings with ourselves and others because we recognize that things are not what they appear to be. The act of compassionate boundary making comes out of our luminous and unbounded nature.

Even though we may have been “hurt” by a particular situation or person, from the view of the transpersonal, all of this is like clouds, in one moment vividly real and in the next moment, gone. This spaciousness allows us to let others be without the need to judge, defile, or seek revenge.

For the young woman mentioned earlier, making a compassionate boundary with her boyfriend might look like her telling him three things: first, that based on his past behavior she has concluded that she cannot trust him; second, she is leaving him; and three, she holds him no ill-will. She goes on with her life and he goes on with his.

Now, this does not mean that the desire for judgment, defilement or revenge doesn’t arise in our minds especially when we perceive being hurt by another. But the spiritual discipline of not indulging these thoughts, feelings, and fantasies is a powerful niyama, (Sanskrit, meaning constraint or control). Niyamas, such as the attempt to remain harmless to oneself and others, strengthen both the soul and personal will. Besides reducing interpersonal stress, compassionate boundary making affords us real insight into the state of our own psychology.

What I mean by this is that for some of us, it may be a challenge to let someone “off the hook” who has harmed us in some way. But if it is anyone who is let “off the hook” it is ourselves, since the desire for revenge or retribution on another is an emotional and spiritual poison.

And so, to the woman I mentioned at the beginning, I would say “yes.” To set a boundary between ourselves and another can be spiritual. How it is done makes it “spiritual” or not. If the “spiritual life” is an attempt to live with an awareness of the sacredness of life, then compassionate boundary making is, in fact, aspiritual act. To set an appropriate boundary is necessary for all biological life. It is also a requirement for mental and emotional health, and I would venture to say for the “spiritual life” as well.

To say “no” to ourselves or another can sometimes be the most courageous and powerful act imaginable. And sometimes, saying “no” to someone is more “loving”(i.e., caring) than saying “yes.”

There is another piece in relation to boundary making: detachment. Finding your truth and acting on it regardless of how others might react is the benchmark of personal sovereignty. Such action requires the ability to create and hold boundaries. I am reminded in this of a story.

One day the immortal yogi, Babaji, was meditating in a forest with his chelas (disciples) up in the Himalayas. A man stumbled upon them and recognizing the great yogi, he begged to become a disciple.

Babaji refused and told the man to leave. Instead, the man followed the group wherever they went. Finally, Babaji threw rocks at him and told him to go way.

The man, distraught, told Babaji that if he, a great yogi, did not accept him as a disciple, he would cast himself off the nearby cliffs. Calmly, Babaji told him he didn’t care what he did. With these words, the man threw himself to his death on the rocks below.

Babaji went down the side of the mountain and brought the man back to life. Having dissolved immense negative karma, the man was accepted as a disciple.

Gurus are notoriously irascible. They follow impulses that we can hardly even imagine. At the very least, this is a story about spiritual boundaries. Hopefully in our journey to wholeness none of us will have to jump off a cliff; but all of us will, no doubt, have to set boundaries from time to time.

May all of us find ways to be more compassionate in our boundary making. And may we find the strength to open and say yes, when we mean yes, and the courage to say no, when we mean no. End. .

The Eye of the Storm

After passing through the end of the Mayan calendar, dark astrological predictions and prophecy with bleak portent, we caress the concept of light through dates like 11-11-11. The internet turns ripe with speculation, bearing rumors of days that bestow enlightenment, with hope of a great dispensation—salvation from travail on earth. In truth, numeric sequences and astrological configurations only offer energetic frequencies as potentiality.

Kali Yuga–which is the last of four periods of time in Hindu religion, referring to a time of great darkness when people are as far removed from God (source-consciousness) as possible–approaches its end. The New Age is also referred to as the “apocalypse”, defined as the lifting of the veil and revelation of the hidden truth. It’s a real possibility that the corner has been turned; yet, we continue to wait for illumination, as a respite from chaos, the upheaval of the Shift of the Ages.

Wild weather rages through the world with tsunamis, droughts and snowstorms. Outer structures crumble, while finances teeter on a dangerous roller coaster ride. New science discovers the value of intention, including the reprogramming of the DNA through positive affirmation, emotion and action. Princeton’s Global Consciousness Experiment monitors global consciousness, proving that group emotions make a measurable impact on the world. “Everything is energy” is the catch phrase of the new century, but the desired enlightenment is often illusive.

We can seek shelter in the storm of polarities, the riot of energy experienced as part of the coursing change, through the simple tenets of hermetic law. By abiding in the safe habitat of these laws, the final product offers “centering”, the practice of balanced thought, spirituality, emotion and body. The spectacle of centering is actually the desired result of all alchemy, represented in the marriage of opposites. Sacred geometry presents the concept of centering through figures such as the dodecahedron and the stellated dodecahedron, which are also depicted in Kabala as the “Tree of Life.”

Shift of the Ages

The current changes of light and earth frequency emphasize the necessity of centered thought and action. Knowledge of the “storm of the shift” brings insight to accelerate understanding of personal and global challenges.

Acknowledgement of the need for centering is important, but comprehension of “The Turning of the Ages” is required for perception of the implications and inherent possibilities, as conferred by a given point in time and space.

“The Turning of the Ages” is loosely defined as the movement of the sun through all of the astrological signs, as a completion of a twenty-six thousand year earth cycle. The sun moves through an astrological sign in about 2,160 years, comprising an “Age.” The turning of the ages bestows additional light for the evolution of the soul. (It’s important to keep in mind that self-mastery is key to soul evolution.)

In each Age, an element predominates and influences mass consciousness, including icons and symbols. The last Age, the Piscean Age, was symbolized by the element water and two fishes swimming in opposite directions. (Previous ages include the ram or Aries during the time of Moses and the bull or Taurus during the Egyptian reigns.)

The Aquarian Age is governed by an air sign, ruled by Uranus, which influences the quantum field or akasha. (Aquarius is symbolized by a man pouring water into the air or akasha, and the highest emanation of water/emotion is love. The akasha is ruled by Uranus.) It’s interesting to note the influences of the Aquarian age or the movement toward the Quantum Field or the akasha. Man or Woman is composed of four bodies: spirit and mind (fire + air=electrical) and emotions and body (water + earth=magnetic), thus we are electro-magnetic beings on an alchemical basis.

The akasha is the substance that links each of us on a psychic basis, operating as a long distance telephone for our thoughts and emotions. (Thus, a person receives your true feelings, regardless of words or expressions. As the akashic element strengthens, the likelihood of transmitting one’s true emotions or thoughts is heightened.) The akashic field also links us to higher emotions, such as love, joy and gratitude. The fifth sense, or intuition, is regulated to the Field or the akaska. The element of the akasha unifies — it is literally the experience of the One in the All.

The change in earth frequency/consciousness has been referred to as the crystalline grid. A grid acts as a planetary blueprint for the organization for all the structures of life. It distributes and aligns the elementary components, including life force and the planetary frequency spectrum. Some speak of the geometric structure as the stellated dodecahedron or Christ grid. They tell us that the Stellated Dodecahedron is about adding conscious awareness — impeccability, self-responsibility, and integrity — as a means to the open heart to create Christ Consciousness realization.

The properties of a crystal include amplification of the reception and projection of frequencies or waves. If we consider the earth’s structure as taking on a more crystalline formation, then it’s easy to speculate that the population’s inner communication (inner dialog) is broadcast at a higher, more rapid frequency. In the past, radios operated on crystals, and the extension of the antenna determined the band of reception. As an analogy, the inner state acts as an antenna, dictating the broadcast received by the senses.

Earth scientist, Greg Braden, identifies the shift of the ages as associated with the loss of magnetism and/or possible polar shift. According to Braden, the earth pulses in a Base Resonant Frequency, which is the heart beat of Earth. It has increased in frequency from 7.8 cycles per second in 1958 (Schumann Frequency) to approximately 9 cycles per second in 1996, with a projection of 13 cycles per second at the time of the actual shift of the ages. This increased frequency also affects the pulse of the physical body.

Metaphysically, magnetism refers to emotion and sensation (water and earth elements) in the human body. If the heart frequency of the earth and population rise, then perhaps we will shed the lower emotions and sensations, which are commonly experienced in life as separation and suffering. When unity consciousness is achieved, even momentarily, there is only perfection and light.

 

Centering

Unity consciousness is the sensation of experiencing “reality” as an individual in union with the “all.” Alchemically known as the realization of First Matter, it is a glimpse of the underlying fabric of the universe through an open heart chakra. Centering is part of this experience, but the practice has many applications, which exist in many philosophical systems –ranging from Hindu, Tibetan and Chinese physical/meditative practices to those described in Hermetics.

At its height, the practice aspires to the achievement of alchemical balance within the chakras and/or elements of the body—and the more esoteric details are revealed through symbolism. Regardless of the system or complexity of practice, centering refers to the balancing of the elements—fire, air, water, earth and akasha, of the human form (including meridians and chakras.) The value of centering lies in the cultivation of a higher state, so that the seeker is lifted above momentary problems and sights the divine order of the universe.

Whenever the true order of the universe reveals itself, order is regulated in the material world. Whether through a feeling of calm, composure in the mind, vitality of the physical body, or inspirational movement of the soul, centering offers a different perspective of the world. It lifts us above our troubles and into the safe hands of the divine, where all good abides.

Centering begins in the heart by seeking a spiritual connection with the Divine. It is most effective when the seeker concentrates on the heart area by breathing in and out, while imagining balance between the upper and lower three chakras. The practice of similar exercises develops awareness of the inner truth of the heart chakra. The heart becomes the guidepost, and the axiom states, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.”

The concept behind the meditation is detecting the directive of the heart space at all times. This state comes through continually living in a state of prayer, which leads toward love. A state of love, or high frequency state, is needed to transcend the illusion of separation. The illusion of separation relates to the concept of suffering—and only connection with divine can supersede this human condition or provide protection from storms in the inner or outer world.

 

Practical Notes and Tips

Many forms of centering are mentioned extensively in spiritual teachings. The simplest exercises consist breathing in light; breathing in pain and breathing out light; imagining a state of centeredness between the planet and the heights of the universe; and observation of the self.

– The shift of the ages brings a great dispensation of light; however, the new energies can be disconcerting—often causing imbalance from the influx of new energy. It’s helpful to realize that the emotional states and thoughts may last for a few days or weeks. One of the lessons on the soul journey is discarding preferences—just because we feel one way on one day doesn’t mean that we won’t feel differently on the following day. Work for acceptance of both states and remember — in the big picture, we live in an exciting time.

– Metaphysics theorizes that all problems result from vibrating at a lower frequency. Through identification with a problem, we typically “think” or review the problem at regular intervals. This process is known as resonance. Answers to difficult problems are rarely found in the logical mind, so it’s helpful to work for a “jump” or leap in consciousness.

– Staying with a meditation practice can be a life saver, and the endorphins generated by exercise help incredibly. These two practices balance mind, body and emotion.

– Energy from other people can impact your field. As consciousness grows, many people discover that they “feel” the person next door or read the thoughts of a co-worker on a psychic level. Intuitive readers are emphatically aware of the presence of “other people” when reading the field of an individual. For example, everyone has experienced a sudden emotional plummet when visiting with an unhappy person. Our energy fields over-lap and affect one another, particularly when encountering truth about world conspiracy or earth changes. (Global Conciousness)

– Observation is one key in the shift. Observe phone calls, trips, errands and note energy level before and after encounters. Change communication accordingly. Ask often to be cleared from other people’s energy or mass consciousness, particularly after visits or interaction with media, such as television or even you tube.

– Physicist Werner Heisenberg postulated that observation causes an electron to exist. It doesn’t exist prior to observation or measurement. He stated, “Atoms form a world of potentiality or possibility rather than one of things or facts.”(Werner Heisenberg) Stay focused on your personal, positive vision of the world, and don’t allow the media’s take on world events to rock your inner world.

– The identification of any troubled state as part of our personal consciousness can be freeing. Whether or not we actively participate, some part of our psyche is attached to the overall scheme of events. Often, the best solution lies in patience. Clear guidance can come from objective observation, acceptance of a state and meditative awareness.

Ultimately, human beings, who quest for enlightenment, work for the accomplishment of balance in the physical and spiritual worlds. Mastery is earned through work. When in a centered state, we no longer move between the illusory and real, for it is possible to perceive the fabric of the invisible spiritual world, as well as its direction. We are also open to the voice of the higher self, which directs our motions and advises us well. It is in this state of consciousness that we perceive the beauty and flaws of the physical world with compassion and gratitude, so that love and light meet with us, as companions on the path of enlightenment.

As we look around our world we see a plethora of outcries, protest and revolutions demanding change. On the surface they seem to be very different groups with different agendas, from vastly different cultures, different races and even different generations. The remarkable thing however, is that this phenomena is happening almost everywhere, in the same timeframe and at a volume unlike anything we have seen in the history of humankind. This should cause us to ask some very important, fundamental questions:

  • On a deep level, could there be some common yearnings in people that connect all of these cries for change?
  • Why now and why everywhere; is there a common cause beyond the obvious economic and political conditions?
  • Could there be a shared vision of life’s possibilities and potential growing in the hearts and minds of people around the world?

In the mist of the chaos and confusion of our time we tend to be too blinded by our “day to day” struggles and parochial focus, to see what might be unfolding on a macro bases. When I step back and listen to what people are saying — fundamentally, I hear the same cry for change. The “Arab Spring” revolutionaries in the Middle East; the “Occupy Wall Street” protestors in cities across in the world; the anti-globalization protesters at the G-20 Summit, all seem to be demanding the right be free to pursue their hopes and dreams.

While the messages of these revolts and protest speak to specific conditions: ending oppressive dictatorships, ending the income inequality, the fear of the growing marriage between corporations and governments, I believe the core message is fundamentally the same — PEOPLE FIRST! People around the world have evolved to the place where they are claiming their unalienable rights.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The essence of this profound statement from the United States Declaration of Independence is shared by a rapidly growing number of people around the world, and impassioned US citizens are finding the courage to claim their Rights.

Why Now!

Since the beginning of the “civilized” world, people have been serving governments, businesses, institutions and the economic systems that support them. Under this model the world has seen continuous war and conflict, poverty, pain and the degradation of our planet. I believe the most devastating affect of putting people last, has been the damage to our individual and collective self-esteem, which has dampened the human spirit.

People are changing! People are now demanding an authentic shift in power from governments, institutions and systems to PEOPLE FIRST. We may be on the cusp of actualizing the social model most people have dreamed about and countries have fought for — a model that is — “of the people, by the people, for the people”. This radical change is evidenced by the proliferation of social media technology. Massive numbers of people and organizations are creating the technological tools to enable people all over the world to connect to one another, in real-time, unencumbered by governments, institutions, media, geography and cultures. Even language barriers are diminishing, thanks to Google translate.

The social media revolution is a phenomena created by people, for people. This revolution has dramatically enabled people to communicate with one another igniting what I call a “PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE movement. This movement is growing at an exponential pace. The Arab Spring spread across the Middle East in a matter of months. The Occupy Wall Street movement, started in September of this year in New York City and San Francisco — today the Occupy Together Meetup website reports there are 2,683 Occupy communities throughout the world, including 95 countries around the world — all this momentum in just two and a half months.

In the early stages of these movements people were perplexed, critical and many were dismissive about their validity. Today many people believe they have the potential to go viral. It is not just the protesters we see in the streets crying for change — listen to your neighbors, the conversations at your local restaurants and bars and the conversations around the dinner tables — the silent majority’s frustration levels are nearing a breaking point.

It is impossible to calibrate the impact all of these movements and technological developments will have on governments and civil societies around the world in 1-3 years — I believe it will be enormous. The People-To-People movement is eliminating the barriers and boundaries that separate us. This is a historical game changer never before realized in the history of humankind. This movement is messy, unpredictable, and wrought with ambiguity. The old forms of social control are not working and this is creating fear, and confusion. At the same time, something far more profound is happening. On a very deep level people are beginning to understand that we all have far more in common than we differ. We are discovering common values and aspirations that transcend nations, cultures, race, ages and circumstances. We are learning that what people value most is fundamentally the same: Everyone shares the need:

  • To connect with others
  • To participate – be included, be heard
  • To contribute our talents and gifts towards something that matters to us
  • To learn and grow
  • To be recognized
  • To have a sense of belonging
  • Ultimately, to be loved

I strongly believe these universally shared-values resonate with all of us. Growing up, I was raised a GI Brat living in many places around the world. Over the last 25 years I have traveled 50-80% every year working in cities on every continent except Antarctica. I have worked in and with corporations, governments, and nonprofit organizations. I worked in a halfway house for adult female inmates and a prison for adult male felony offenders. In my diverse journey I have yet to find anyone who did not want to be included, to be heard, to be valued, recognized and to be loved.

The growing People-To-People movement, enabled by the social media revolution is bringing us out of the dark ages. We are becoming aware of the fact that everyone and everything is related. We are inextricably connected and bonded by a powerful life force that compels us to grow, evolve and pursue our dreams.

This new consciousness is rippling and multiplying across our world almost as fast as the technology that carries it. Although the media focuses on the negative aspects of people connecting to people, if we look below the waterline we will see that people are breaking out of the patterns of cynicism, hopelessness and despair and discovering the individual and collective power we all have within us to change our reality. The rapidly evolving internet technology has become a powerful tool for social, environmental and political action — and it is unstoppable!

A New Vision

What we need is a new story for the future of humankind. It is a new day; the past has relinquished its hold on the future. We need is vision that is inclusive and born out of our universally shared human values. A vision that inspires us to overcome our fears and compels us to recreate our governments, institutions, organizations and communities to be worthy of peoples commitment.

Imagine governments that authentically serve the will of the people — participatory democracies that are inclusive and transparent.

Imagine leaders having the self-confidence, inner strength and wisdom to become what Robert Greenleaf called — servant leaders. Leaders who see leadership as a function rather than a status.

Imagine corporations and consumers alike working together for the good of all. Corporations and business committed sustainable value — doing well and doing good as a viable business model. And people, making the commitment and having the discipline to buy products from companies and patronize businesses whose products, decisions and actions are ethically, socially and environmentally responsible.

Simon Mainwaring’s new book W First, proposes a compelling argument why we must alter the current free market capitalism from destructive capitalism to sustainable capitalism. He offers a new vision and specific ideas to “transform the entire private sector, corporations and consumers alike — into a force for global renewal” Mainwaring believes that We First is neither anti-capitalist nor anti-wealth. It is pro-prosperity”. He defines prosperity as — “Well-being for all” and believes that in the long run serving everyone’s interest also serves our own.

There are a growing number of companies and consumers that share Mainwaring’s vision of prosperity.

  • There are innovative mobile phone applications that enable consumers to become ethical shoppers. Barcoo, developed by a group of young Germans, is a free download application that allows customers to point their mobile phones at the barcode on products while shopping to cheek a company’s performance on social and environmental responsibility. It even gives information on how a company treats its staff.
  • Some Internet gaming developers and companies are beginning to use social gaming to solve real-world problems. Zynga, the worlds largest social gaming company is developing “Games for Good”. According to NPD Group, a marketing research firm, the on-line gaming industry, has grown into a 15.7 billion dollar industry – 60 million Americans have played a game on-line. Imagine if the Apps for Good trend accelerates.
  • A company out of Amsterdam, Oat Shoes, has developed sneakers that are attractive and environmentally friendly. When they wear out, bury them and they will blossom. OAT Shoes states on their website “The future of fashion lies in reconciliation between nature and industry. OAT Shoes strives to lead the way to that future”.

People are becoming passionate about changing the world. The explosion of social networking through internet technology is a powerful example of people’s hunger to connect with one another. People are not just demanding change — they are making change happen.

Communities of like-minded people are redefining ways of being together; moving from hierarchical, exclusive, separate constructs, to inclusive communities that flourish on the flow of ideas around common interest. While the media focuses on the abuses and destructive groups on the internet, there are far more positive communities creating new thinking, new possibilities and generating new actions and movements for change. People are coming up with bold ideas to change our world, many of which do not require a lot of money. They are not asking for permission or forgiveness but rather putting their ideas to work. The number of social networking groups connecting, learning and working together to solve problems is amazing. This authentic shift of Power to people has the potential to impact everyone and every segment of our society.

The genie is out of the bottle! People are claiming their power. That energy cannot be forced, coerced, bribed or beaten back into that the old controlling structures, systems or mindsets. The People-To-People movement, enabled by the powerful social media revolution, leads me to believe that a massive global movement to transform society’s unhealthy systems, structures and behaviors, to enable all life to flourish — is possible.

Forget Why You Walked in a Room? Doorways to Blame, Study Finds

“So … what am I doing here, anyway?”

Even the most nimble-minded among us have pondered that question after walking into a room with some purpose in mind — to get something, perhaps? — only to blank on what that purpose was. Now a new study suggests that it’s the very act of walking through a doorway that causes these strange memory lapses.

“Entering or exiting through a doorway serves as an ‘event boundary’ in the mind, which separates episodes of activity and files them away,” said lead researcher Gabriel Radvansky, a psychologist at the University of Notre Dame. “Recalling the decision or activity that was made in a different room is difficult because it has been compartmentalized.”

In our minds, like in the movies, threshold-crossing signals the end of a scene.

As detailed in the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, the explanation follows from a series of experiments that probed the relationship between memory and various types of home wandering. First, Radvansky assigned a group of study participants the task of selecting an object from one table and exchanging it for an object at a different table in another room. He then had a second group perform the same task between tables that were an equal distance apart, but in the same room.

The difference in the two groups’ performances was “big enough to drive a truck through,” Radvansky told Life’s Little Mysteries. Despite the simplicity of their task, “people were two to three times as likely to forget what they were supposed to do after walking through a doorway.” This suggested that doorways acted as mental blocks, impeding our ability to retrieve memories formed elsewhere.

The finding held true when the participants navigated both real-world and virtual settings.

But was it actually threshold-crossing that caused their memory lapses, or was it simply being in a different environment than the one in which they learned their task? To find out, Radvansky had the volunteers perform another object-exchanging task, but this time, the task required them to pass through several doorways leading back to the room in which they started. As it turned out, their memories failed them in this scenario just as they did in the other threshold-crossing scenarios. “When they went through multiple doorways, the error rate increased,” he said. This suggests that the act of passing through doorways, rather than the fact of being in a different environment, kills memory, he said.

So why does this happen? “When we are moving through the world, it is very continuous and dynamic and to deal with it more effectively, we parse things up,” Radvansky said. Neuroscientists have begun imaging the brains of people crossing event boundaries and, from these studies, are just beginning to piece together how the brain performs this function. “There are a lot of [brain] areas that light up at different kinds of event boundaries.”

Mental event boundaries are useful because they help us organize our thoughts and memories. But when we’re trying to remember that thing we were intending to do… or get… or maybe find… they can be annoying.

“I think architects are interested in this research because they want to design spaces that are more effective,” Radvansky said. “For example, they might need to consider where you need doorways and where you don’t.”

Scientific Support for Energy Medicine

Because we human beings are so interrelated from an energetic perspec­tive, there is a refreshing optimism in energy-medicine approaches and in the practice of Healing Touch. In essence, the presence of a focused, intentional practitioner facilitates healing and movement toward well-being for someone who is in distress. The work offers a beacon of hope in relieving physical and/or emotional pain. It serves as a fine complement to conventional medical interventions and is an essential component for preventive and integrative healing practices.

Current science does not yet fully understand all the dynamics involved in achieving the effects noted in energy medicine, but relief from human suffering abounds in the clinical reports of HT practitioners. Even though the exact mechanisms are not yet fully known, use of this well-recognized practice is sought out and welcomed.

Take, for example, people who are very anxious about diagnostic tests or specific medical procedures. It’s common knowledge that anxiety and worry by themselves can increase pain symptoms and block the flow of biochemicals essential for a procedure to be effective. Psychological concerns and expec­tations, either positive or negative, decidedly help to shape outcomes. The presence of a caring HT practitioner can help promote much-needed relaxation as patients think of new ways to anticipate a procedure and focus on positive outcomes.

In this chapter, we’ll consider the growing scientific evidence for seeing the human body as a series of vibrating electromagnetic fields that can be positively influenced without the invasion of foreign substances such as chemicals or drugs. We begin with the realities of current medical practices that point to the vibrational nature of the body for diagnosis and treatment. We’ll continue with a brief discussion of modern physics with its views toward unlimited, open-ended possibilities as opposed to ideas of direct cause and effect. Emerging concepts in neurosciences such as neuroplasticity will be explored with an eye to the vast capabilities of the human mind to influence health and wholeness. And, perhaps most exciting of all, we’ll look at the new biology that demonstrates the direct effect of thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors on cellular messaging and expression of genetic material.

Scientists describe their understanding of the world through theoretical models. The concept of human energies as a vibratory matrix of nonmaterial structures, such as those described in the previous chapter, gives a useful starting place. These vibratory structures seem to interact with identified physical structures such as cells, fluids, and organs to facilitate the flow of information throughout the body. We might think of this informational system as a flowing river that can be impeded where there are blocks to its flow pathways. Such impeded areas can cause disturbance, congestion, and subsequent illness in our bodies. The concept of energy-flow patterns is thus a useful model for understanding human illness and how we might alleviate further suffering. For example, determining how energy flows in a given part of the body is already a part of conventional medical diagnostics. As we shall learn, medicine is becom­ing more and more energetic in practice, even though the mechanisms for its effects are not yet fully explainable. Other more effective models, theories, and inferences will undoubtedly emerge as science evolves.

 

Vibrational Medicine

Practitoners of Western medicine are becoming more interested in understanding how energy moves in the body as medical science considers the electrical and magnetic qualities of the human organism. For diagnosis, a variety of non­invasive scanners can now give feedback about molecular exchanges within soft tissue. Sophisticated scans such as CT (computerized tomography), PET (positron emission tomography), and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), show areas of constriction or obstruction that interfere with healthy flow patterns within cells and organ tissue.

The EKG (electrocardiogram) and the EEG (electroencephalogram) measure the electrical outputs of the heart and brain and then compare those outputs to normal electrical outputs in healthy persons. Newer tools, such as the EMC (electromagnetic cardiogram) and EMEG (electromagnetic encephalogram), additionally measure the magnetic outputs of heart and brain, which give even more accurate details of deviations from normal function in these vital organs. Technology using SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) allows scientists to measure the human biofield and evaluate relative bodily strengths.

Medical treatments are also becoming less invasive as comprehension of the electromagnetic nature of the body increases. Orthopedic surgeon Robert O. Becker began to explore the electrical circuitry of the human body to treat complex bone fractures that did not heal with known methods in the late 1960s. He identified numerous direct currents of electricity that flowed throughout the body and found they reversed their flow pattern or direction at the site of an injury. When this “current of injury” was supported with a small amount of electrical stimulation, bone healing occurred.

Over the next several decades, Dr. Becker mapped out the energetic grids of the body and surmised that the energy system paralleled the nervous system in providing the communication of information to all parts of the organism.  Unlike the nervous system, however, this system is nonmaterial and electro­magnetic in nature. Thus, humans and higher life forms have dual information systems: 1) the nervous system with its many physical components such as nerve cells, dendrites, axons, and the spinal cord, and 2) the subtle energies that are electromagnetic in form, which I like to call the human vibrational matrix. These dual systems seem to augment each other to ensure optimal functioning. If a part of the body is diseased or surgically removed, other cells learn to take over missing functions as much as possible through our energetic information networks.

Almost every day, new concepts for stimulating electromagnetic areas within the body are being developed to treat illness. Current energy-related treatments include high-frequency sound waves to break up kidney stones, electricity to relieve pain and shrink tumors, focused radiation to pinpoint and destroy specific cancers, electromagnetic fields to accelerate bone healing, laser surgeries to minimize tissue damage, and magnetic fields to alleviate inflammation associated with arthritis. Further explorations in modern medicine continue to study the presence of differing electromagnetic frequencies within the body to find new and more effective treatments.

The energy resources of the body can also bring about balance within body and mind to prevent illness or further disability. Working with HT is known to bring about relaxation, relief from anxiety, a sense of well-being, and enhanced wound healing and immune system function. (These effects are confirmed by ongoing and extensive research cited in the next chapter.) Because of these effects, many physicians are now encouraging their patients to explore energy therapies as part of treatment planning.

The Spending Bill before our elected officials contained an Agriculture Department provision recognizing that school kids are dangerously obese, and that subsidizing school lunches of frozen pizza and french fries is unwise and unhealthy. The Congressional response: a slice of pizza = a serving of vegetables.
