Last update: May 28, 2013 at 10:59 pm by By

Copahue volcano, Chile Update (May 28 – 22:42 UTC)

No change in activity
The Government of the Argentine province of Neuquén (Argentina side of the border) ordered by decree a “high alert” for the town of Caviahue and surrounding areas that could be affected by the possible eruption of Copahue, the government said. 800 people will be asked to evacuate at the Argentina side of the border. The evacuated people will be lodged in hotels at approx. 70 km from Caviahue.
The Argentina side of the border and more specifically Caviahue will probably get the big ash shower when Copahue would erupt ast Easterly winds are the main wind direction in the Andes.

Nothing to see at the moment of writing because of very bad weather.
The evacuation of the 400 families living under treat of lahars (hot mud flows – in part generated by melting snow) and pyroclastic flows (extremely hot ash avalanches that burn everything on their way) is being effectuated orderly.
Nothing special going on so far and nothing serious expected as far as VAAC Buenos Aires is reporting. (NO VA EXP (text on map) is of course NO Volcanic Ash expected). This map is a precision of 19:30 UTC on May 28 (today).

Very strong earthquake along the Chile coast
Although that this was a very strong earthquake, the location of the epicenter makes it harmless for people as this part of Chile is only sparsely populated.  Additionally readers have to know that the epicenter is approx. 350 km out of the coast.

Kryon Through Lee Carrollon Kundalini

Around the Horn

Lee Carroll
a message from Kryon channeled by Lee Carroll
Sunday, 1 January, 2012  at Patagonia Kryon Kundalini Cruise  (posted 18 July, 2012)

Greetings, dear ones, I am Kryon of Magnetic Service. My partner is sometimes dense! This “partner” is the man in the chair with the voice you are hearing. My personal thanks to those around him who required this particular channelling, which was always scheduled but not in his mind. [Kryon smile]

You are very close to what we would call the tip of the Kundalini. You must look at these things both metaphorically and physically. In approximately four hours, you will be as close as you’re going to be to the land, which represents the bottom of the inhabitable planet. For the purposes of the channel and for the energies we speak, we will consider it the bottom of Earth. So let us speak of the energies that are here.

For more than a decade, we have talked about the movement of the Feathered Serpent [Kryon Book Eight – “The Journey of the Feathered Serpent”]. This is the metaphor for what has been described as the Kundalini of the planet. Look at the metaphors and look at the symbolism of what is going on now. I’m going to use terminology that my partner has never heard before, so forgive him if he does not pronounce it correctly as I present it to him, or he may choose not to speak it at all. We will use the best language we can to describe what the ancients presented to you as the Kundalini in graphic form.

They drew this concept as a graphic and yet it is energy. The Kundalini represents the balance of male and female. Even within the Human body, the ancients drew it as a representative of co-creation and manifestation of new energy [conception]. Indeed, it represents the male and the female balanced together, coming together with great energy to create perfection and balance. Now we apply that same principle to the planet.

As we have discussed before, planet Earth is male heavy because it represents most of the northern hemisphere’s population. The wars on your planet have come mostly from the northern hemisphere, and even here [the bottom of South America] was visited by the conquerors that came from the north [Spain]. You might say the northern hemisphere energy has spread to the south over the generations, affecting it greatly. Part of what is changing on the planet is a reversal of the roles of north and south. So you’re going to start seeing the energy of the southern hemisphere, which is sweet and gentle, affecting the north! Therefore, the Kundalini moves southward over a period of time, some details of which I’m going to give you in a moment.

Let us look at the mythology. Let us take a look at the ancient knowledge and then let’s look at the metaphor involved. Now be careful, my partner, for this is not technical and not physics, but spiritual [esoteric] information. The Kundalini is coiled at the bottom of the spine of the body. It only uncoils when the male and the female are balanced. It wraps around three energies of the body three and a half times, and it wraps around what is called the lingam. Three wraps represent easy-unwrapping parts of energy, but the final half wrap represents the most difficult part, which is the divine enlightenment of balance. When the Kundalini unwraps and stays that way, you have a balanced Human Being, if not even enlightened. This is the metaphor of the planet and this is beginning to happen.

Some years ago, we sat within a country that represents a portion of the bottom of the Kundalini [Chile], and we said that the unwrapping process would also create a physical movement of the planet. We mentioned approximately where it would be, and it took place where we said it would [the Chile earthquake of 2010]. These are the kinds of things you will physically see as the movement of the planet responds to the metaphor of the energy I’m speaking of.

There is something hiding that no one has brought forth. It has been known that three and a half times is always the formula for the unwrapping of the Kundalini. The timing of the unwrap, however, has been unknown since it had to do with Human consciousness potential. Therefore, every single year that goes by reveals a surprise, for the movement of Human consciousness and the energy of it is unknown even to Spirit. This is due to Human free choice.

There are factors in Human consciousness that are exponentially at play. It’s not a linear progression of consciousness, but one that has uneven upheaval of great magnitude.  Therefore, the surprises about when things might happen do not follow a linear pattern of calculation or expectations. However, there is an overall time frame of potential.

The 26,000-year alignment of the equinoxes of your planet is a grand alignment, and it has been known in astronomy as the Galactic Alignment. It is called that because the start and stop point of the wobble of your earth on its axis aligns through your sun to the center of the galaxy. This alignment only happens once every 26,000 years.

In order for the equinoxes to proceed through the equatorial plane of your galaxy [the Milky Way strip in the sky] and work themselves through the end of this cycle and the beginning of the next one, it will take 36 years. This final stage began approximately 18 years ago, and 2012 is now the center, or beginning of the last half of the last cycle. You have 18 years left of this energetic event, which actually represents the end of one thing and the beginning of another.

This 36-year window is the timeframe for the potential unwrapping of the entire Kundalini. Do you not find it interesting that it wraps around the lingam three and a half times? Each of the three represents a decade of time in this metaphoric code. Three and a half would be 35 years, very close to the 36-year astronomical event you are in. So this Kundalini prophecy has always been the metaphor of the promise of the earth and what actually started 18 years ago and that is now centered [2012]. That is where the ceremony should be – at the center of the 36 years, the midpoint of the unwrapping.

If all this sounds confusing, let me simplify it. Even the ancients who watched the stars knew of this alignment. It corresponded to the potentials of consciousness shift, since it also represented a decision point or time fractal in the pattern of potentials that has been the core of ancient astronomical prophecy for eons. So all this was expected and is not a surprise. But it carries with it profound change, and this is what we all saw more than 20 years ago when I arrived to begin my messages. Humanity has these opportunities about every half cycle of the 26,000-year alignment. The last one was 13,000 years ago and humanity was not ready. Now you are.

Dear Human Being, you’re sitting in a very, very special place [speaking of the group before Kryon]. You are the first Human group ever to celebrate this movement at the bottom of the South American tip, where the shifts really begin. Oh, there have been those who have chosen to come to the bottom on land and celebrate the coming of it. However, let this go on record that this group now, on the open ocean, at the bottom of the earth, is where this celebration starts in 2012. [The date during this channelling is January 2012.]

It is an important thing you are doing. Let this be an acknowledgment to those who are listening and reading and who you don’t even know, that you are celebrating this which is starting to balance the planet. It is the beginning of 18 years of movement representing a true passing of a marker. The Kundalini will slowly unwrap and the center will slowly move to this continent. It is not complete yet, and it will not be for some years. But the unwrapping process begins. The unwrapping is not a linear process any more than Human consciousness is, but the potential is that it would be unwrapped and in place within the next 18 years.

This means the earth is going to move more down here [South America] and perhaps in places you do not expect where there has not been movement before. So celebrate this moment. Know this: You are close to what we would call Antarctica, which is not an ice pole, but a land pole.

Don’t you find it interesting that Antarctica will play a role in the renewal of the life of Earth? The bio-diversity coming from these parts will affect the planet for the next 18 years. It will help renew the ocean. There are some very significant discoveries in progress that will reveal this, that Antarctica is the cradle of new species for planet Earth’s food chain.

It’s time for you to connect to these things. It is not a coincidence that the renewal process of life is also coming from down here. Think about it. You [those on the cruise] are the first group of Human Beings to celebrate this – the renewal process of life in the ocean and the movement of the Kundalini – from where it’s actually happening.

Now, in the process of all of this, there’s going to be renewed interest in Antarctica, and you’re going to find some interesting things about the land under the ice. The topography of the land under the ice does not match the topography of the ice above. Some astonishing shapes will be revealed when you map the actual land under the ice. Points of mountains are going to be revealed, giving an entire different idea of what Antarctica might have been and what its purpose really is. The continent that is uninhabitable by Human Beings may very well be the engine of life for Human Beings. And I will leave it at that.

Congratulations to those of you who listened to your intuition and for planning the meeting that always should have been planned. [Lee didn’t plan a channelling for this time.] Feel the significance of what you’re doing and where you are, and in the future years when things start to happen on the planet, remember these moments, for the future will coordinate with the message of today.

Blessed is the Human Being who takes his spiritual life seriously. It’s not an addition to your biology. Instead, your biology is an addition to that which is your spiritual core. Learn to meld both of them together and you will live a very long time. And so it is.

Earthquake – Chile/Peru Border

Very strong deep earthquake at the Chile / Peru border – some damage and power cuts reported in both countries

Last update: May 14, 2012 at 8:49 pm by By l

The earthquake took place in the border area of Southern Peru and Northern Chile.

Most important Earthquake Data:
Magnitude : 6.2 preliminary – 5.9 USGS  EMSC 6.4 – USGS 6.2
UTC Time :   Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10:00:30 UTC
Local time at epicenter : Monday, May 14, 2012 at 06:00:30 AM at epicenter
Depth (Hypocenter) : 22 to 80 km ?? — USGS 98 km – EMSC 60 km
Geo-location(s) :
66 km (41 miles) ENE (62°) from Tacna, Peru
110 km (68 miles) NE (38°) from Arica, Chile

Important Update 17:40 UTC :
CHILE side of the border
The Tarapaca governor reported earlier today that :
– Some walls have collapsed in the Arica port area
– Power was cut in 15% of Arica’s households (3000 families)
– some roads are / where  inaccessible (ie route 5)
The governor also said that local people had the feeling that the quakes intensity was stronger than VI which was reported by Chile’s ONEMI.
– Although the authorities never called a tsunami alert as the hypocenter was below land, a lot of people have auto-evacuated to higher grounds
– Luckily there are NO reports of injuries
All these data are for the Chile side of the border
Peru side of the border
– As could be expected, also TACNA had power cuts
– Walls and roofs fall in the area, a water pipe broke in Para sector and cracked windows in stores.
– TACNAschools like “Francisco Antonio de Zela” and “Coronel Bolognesi” showed fissures in walls.
– Landslides in the road of Ilabaya and cracks on irrigation canals of Candarave
– 5 people did jump from their houses causing them to be injured

Update 11:33 UTC :  IGP, Peru has also other earthquake data. Ml5.9 at a depth of 105 km. Epicenter : see below (Peru side of the border). IGP Peru has calculated that based on their earthquake data Tacna would have experienced a MMI IV light shaking and Arequipa a MMI III weak shaking.

Shaking map courtesy USGS

Update 11:03 UTC : ONEMI Chile, the outstanding emergency authority in Chile, is calling the earthquake “mediana intensidad” (moderate intensity).  The strongest Magnitude has been given to Arica (MMI VI or strong shaking). At Earthquake-Report.com we use MMI VII as a beginning of chances for serious damage. MMI VI can generate small effects like falling objects, cracks in walls etc.

Update 10:58 UTC : Theoretical calculations (based on USGS data) have reported that 295,000 people will have experienced a MMI V moderate shaking. 1.9 million people a light shaking and 2.24 million people a weak to very weak shaking.

Update 10:53 UTC : Universidad de Chile (to be trusted highly) reports a Magnitude of Ml6.4 at a hupocenter depth of 119.6 km (good but still serious earthquake numbers). Universidad de Chile Santiago, is putting the epicenter close to Tacna, Peru. Both EMSC and USGS have located the epicenter in Chile!

Update 10:52 UTC : Tacna has reported a moderate shaking (MMI V). The earthquake was felt as far as Arequipa in Peru and Arica in Chile. Deep earthquakes are felt in a far wider area than shallow earthquakes.

Update 10:49 UTC : Preliminary earthquake numbers can be very tricky during earthquakes. There is a night and day difference in between the depths of 20 or 90 km. The first can be highly damaging.  These depths are rarely noticed in the area but they occur, so there is no certainly of what really happened at the beginning.

Update 10:47 UTC : We have removed the text “very dangerous”  from the title because the depth value of USGS has changed from 22 km to 98 km.  The Magnitude however has been increased from 5.9 to Mw6.2. In general we can say that a 90+ km depth would only be capable to generate minor damage or injuries. Only a few exceptions can be more damaging.

Update 10:41 UTC : the earthquake occurred at 06:00 AM during the early morning hours when a lot of people are still asleep.  This is always a bad period for earthquakes. On the positive side is that daylight will have started. We have NO reactions from the area as of yet. We call upon our readers from the area to at least give us a few more details on the time that the strong shaking lasted.

Update 10:37 UTC : We have changed the title and have added “very dangerous” to the already existing text. Why ? Because EMSC has increased the Magnitude from 6.0 to 6.4 – Depth at EMSC has been reduced in few time from 80 to 40 km. Bad numbers !

Update 10:35 UTC :  12 minutes later, a M 4.0 aftershock struck the same area.

Update 10:33 UTC :  Initial reports from USGS and EMSC are locating the epicenter in different countries(EMSC in Peru and USGS in Chile). Also the depth is fundamentally different in this initial phase (22 km USGS = dangerous and 40 km EMSC = less dangerous)

Strong Earthquake — Chile

Strong earthquake close to La Serena and Coquimbo, Chile

Last update: April 30, 2012 at 1:05 pm by By

Strong earthquake close to La Serena and Coquimbo, Chile
A strong earthquake shook houses close to the Chile cities of La Serena and Coquimbo
Coquimbo has a population of 161,137
Earthquake-Report.com calls this earthquake moderately dangerous for minor damage and minor injuries
Onemi Chile calls this earthquake : Sismo de mediana intensidad en las regiones de Atacama y Coquimbo
Intensity values :
Región: Atacama
Alto del Carmen: IV, Copiapó: IV, Tierra Amarilla: IV, Vallenar: IV
Región: Coquimbo
Canela: II, Coquimbo: V, La Serena: V, Ovalle: V (V=moderate shaking)
See also Experience reports below
Onemi indicates that all infrastructure and telecommunications kept working
An Experience report we received right after the earthquake struck mentions a duration of 1 minute 30 seconds for the the shaking, which is very long. A prolonged shaking increases the chance on damage considerably.
Update 08:10 UTC : Universidad de Chile reports a Ml magnitude of 6 luckily at a depth of 45 km. Universidad de Chile places the epicenter approx. 35 km out of the coast.
Contrary to many other earthquakes in Chile, this earthquake was located in the north of the country at a big distance from Santiago de Chile. Most earthquakes who are occurring in this area have a deeper hypocenter.
Update 08:18 UTC : USGS is mentioning a Mw5.5 at a depth of 32.3 km. USGS expects 116,000 people to have felt a moderate MMI V shaking. The earthquake happened at 03:39 local time!
Update 08:26 UTC : An inhabitant of nearby La Serena informed ER that no damage or disruption of basic services was noticed.  “No se reportan daños ni cortes de servicios básicos
Update 08:50 UTC : We expect a final report to arrive within 4 to 6 hours (soon after daylight). Local newspapers are mentioning basic Onemi data, nothing else. Experience reports from our Chile readers make this report the “best available in the world” at the time of writing  .
Update 12:57 UTC : Electricity was cut off for a while in Sindempart Coquimbo. People reacted to the shaking to assemble on the secure locations in the coastal towns. This can be called auto-evacuation which produces after every major shaking. People are going to higher grounds as they do not know the epicenter and initial strength of the shaking, especially after the February 27 deadly tsunami in Chile. Better not take any risk than trusting SHOA or ONEMI they think (Shoa is the tsunami reporting agency).  The same attitude exists in other frequently shaken coastal towns around the world. At earthquake-Report.com we think that this is a wise decision, however we also know that the government reports are very accurate !

Valparaiso, Chile Area Earthquake

Very strong earthquake near Valparaiso, Chile – Very interesting shaking video

Most important Earthquake Data:
Magnitude : 6.5
UTC Time : Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 03:50:14 UTC
Local time at epicenter : Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:50:14 PM at epicenter
Depth (Hypocenter) : 25.9 km
Geo-location(s) :
42 km (26 miles) NNE of Valparaiso, Valparaiso, Chile
81 km (50 miles) W of Los Andes, Valparaiso, Chile

Intensity map courtesy USGS

– Historically, there have been at least 50 damaging earthquakes within a 100km radius of the epicenter

– Strongest intensities have been experienced in Titil and Rancagua following ONEMI Chile (MMI VII = very strong shaking)

– ONEMI Chile is calling the earthquake one of Mayor Intensidad (great intensity).

– 532,000 people will have experienced a strong shaking and nearly a million people a moderate shaking. 8 million people a light shaking

– The epicenter may be positioned in the sea or just below land

– The earthquake struck on the coastal strip 42 km to the north of Valparaiso and 112 km from the Capital Santiago

– The Video below is a very important video which shows the studio of CNN Chile with a footer already in the screen of the earthquake as well as the text that SHOA (agency for tsunami prediction) reports that NO tsunami conditions are present. The text messages must have appeared after the automatic systems from the Chile authorities have received the P-Wave signal at instruments close to the epicenter. Santiago de Chile was only 112 km from the epicenter and while the journalist is commenting the just occurred quake, the studio is starting to shake.  Following ONEMI Chile, the shaking we are seeing on this video is labeled approx. MMI VI (strong shaking).
Once more CHILE proves that they are standing at the top of earthquake preparedness. If reports are distributed this fast to the media, all evacuation and preparedness measures like tsunami evacuation is very efficient too. Japan has a similar system. Earthquake-Report.com congratulates the Chile authorities with the way they have learned from the February 27, 2010 earthquake and historic earthquakes.

– Earthquake-Report.com reader message from Valparaiso : No previous sound, It started reaaally strong, right from the beginning, some things fell, the sad thing is telephones lines went down… again.

– Update 08:44 UTC : Preventive evacuation has been lifted 3 hours 48 minutes after the mainshock!

– In the video below captured in the CNN studios from Santiago de Chile, we have timed that the strongest shaking went on for about 8 seconds and that the shaking ended after approx. 35 seconds.

– Power is now been restored to 99% of the grid and only the town of Maitencillo in the Vth district has still some areas without power

– Update 07:57 UTC : 8 aftershocks since the mainshock

– A seismologist from the Universidad de Chile Santiago has declared that today’s earthquake is NOT related with the February 27, 2010 mega-quake.

– In Maule, power was lost, but has been restored now (8,000 families affected).
– 18 aftershocks have been recorded so far, luckily only 4 of them felt by the population.
– ONEMI sites worked well and were reachable at all times

Update 13:00 UTC :  An earthquake during a football match. Why not simply continue the game ! The commentators are mentioning it, the camera start to wobble and even the stadium speaker announces the earthquake, but …. the game continues.  The game was played in Santiago de Chile against … Palestino. The Palestinians must have thought that the war was following them (just kidding as Palestino is a Chilean football club). Palestino won with 1-0.

Update 07:38 UTC : So far, Universidad de Chile has listed 15 aftershocks ranging from M3.1 to M 4.8

Important Update 07:38 UTC : Somevery interesting analysis on phone traffic has been given by Subtel, the chile telecommunications authority.
– only 15 to 20% of people were able to call other people during the first hours after the earthquake
– SMS (text messages) was a lot better, but due to the overheated networks, not everyone could be served neither.
– The reason : VOICE CALLS are blocking telecommunications because they are consuming far too much bandwidth vs Text messages. 1 voice call of 180 seconds uses the same bandwidth than 100 SMS’s (text messages).
Earthquake-Report.com sees this over and over again in almost every major earthquake worldwide.
The simple solution : Make legislation to oblige mobile telecommunication operators to automatically shut down voice calls (except for emergency services and people who have exceptional reasons to use it), send an SMS (text message) to all clients that explains what is done and for what reason and let them know that only SMS (text) can be used until further message. Most telecommunication software is equipped with cell broadcast.

Update 07:20 UTC : The Chilean government has canceled the preventive evacuation at 23:46 local time.

Update 07:00 UTC : During the early hours after the mainshock, seismological agencies have changed the epicenter a couple of times. USGS did locate the epicenter at first in the Pacific Ocean, approx. 25 km out of the coast. After a recalculation, the epicenter was located below land at 27 km from Talca. EMSC has reported an epicenter also to the NW of Talca. GEOFON puts the epicenter also below land and closer to Constitucion than to Talca, a difference of tens of km.
Universidad de Chile, Santiago, a local trusted seismological agency has reported the the epicenter below the coastal stretch 25 km to the NNE of Constitucion.
Calculation of the epicenter is not easy at all, as can be seen here. Every agency is reporting an error margin both horizontal and vertical.  Earthquake-Report.com is always searching for an agency who has multiple instruments installed in the earthquake epicentral region.

Update 03:20 UTC : In summary: 1 death (Heart Attack) and 6 injured from this earthquake. Minor damage has occurred in the epicentral region and some power outages were reported. The evacuated people are starting to return to their homes, but as a precautionary measure, the Chile government decision to evacuate was well founded.

Update 03:10 UTC : The copper mines in this part of Chile are operating fine, and there has been no stop to production. Life is returning to normal with the panic subsiding. The memories of the 27th February 2010 earthquake still lingers in the minds of the locals.

Update 03:00 UTC : The heart attack was to a 74 year old by the name of José Roberto Rebolledo. He lived 2km from the epicenter in Parral. Our condolences go out to the family. He is currently the only victim of this earthquake. No major damage has been reported to houses so it is likely this will be the only death associated with this earthquake.

Update 02:50 UTC : Given that the earthquake hypocenter was below the mainland it is unlikely that a tsunami was triggered, but the preventive evacuation has gone smoothly. 7000 to 25000 people were evacuated. No movement in the sea level has been observed and it is likely the order will be lifted in the coming hours.

1 dead and 6 injured is the current toll. Minor damage has been reported from the epicentral region.

Update :  Twitter users are monitoring the Ocean level and are sharing their findings with newspapers. New reports are telling us that there are still a lot of power outages.

Update 01:17 UTC :  Maule regional office decided to evacuate the region for PREVENTIVE purposes.
Official ONEMI message :
Domingo, Marzo 25, 2012 – 22:26
Update : people are calling to the radio station saying that the sea has not retreated and they will not evacuate.
