Two Sleep Cycles a Day May Cure Insomnia

insomniaWhile residents of the Southwest, Mexico and Spain are no strangers to the midday ‘siesta’ prompted by high daytime temperatures, today’s industrial societies suffer by not having enough time in the day to do everything they feel is necessary and instead bank all their sleeping time at night, often cutting that time shorter than the recommend 8 hours.

However, the ‘First Sleep, Second Sleep’ practice was apparently well known to humans prior to the 17th century. The onset of industrialization and expansion to the New World caused a curb in in favor of a single 8-hour sleep period through the night supposedly to boost productivity during the day.

Hugh Pickens offers his summary of the phenomenon and recent studies showing how two sleep cycles a day can cure insomnia and improve your day-to-day life.

Blue Whales, UFO’s, and the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012

February 18, 2012

(NOTE:  As always, use your own discretion, but do your research.  THngs are not always what they seem.)

By Richard O’Connor. M.D.

A blue whale, the largest animal that has ever existed.

The blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is a marine mammal belonging to the suborder of baleen whales (called Mysticeti).[3] At 30 metres (98 ft)[4] in length and 180 metric tons (200 short tons)[5] or more in weight, it is the largest known animal to have ever existed.[6]

We are told that blue whales exist, but I have never seen a blue whale. Unlike UFO’s, there is no information war, ortruth embargo, currently in place which attempts to obscure the reality of the existence of blue whales. We are told that blue whales, living at this moment throughout the oceans of this planet, are the largest animals that have ever existed! Other people have seen and photographed them, confirming their real existence for us, and there is really no reason that we should doubt that blue whales do in fact exist. There are many photographs and videos of blue whales. I doubt that the presence of a blue whale has ever been documented by radar, but UFO’s certainly have been so documented through photos, videos, and on radar many, many times. It is estimated that Earth’s population of blue whales currently stands at 5000 – 12,000 worldwide, yet I (and probably you) have never seen a blue whale. We are talking about the largest animal which has ever existed and is claimed to still be living today, yet neither you nor I have ever seen one. How could this be? I have swum and even snorkeled in the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea, but I have never had the good fortune to find myself in the physical presence of a blue whale, and no one that I know personally has ever seen a blue whale. I hope to and would be thrilled to see a blue whale one day, before I am gone or before they are gone, but so far I have never been in the right place, at the right time, to actually see one with my own eyes. Think about these things, and then contemplate the following.

Ongoing and Unexplained Phenomena

We have several ongoing and as yet unexplained categories of events, or phenomena, occurring in our world today. These recurring events are not rare and virtually every single day, if one cares to look at sources beyond our mainstream media, a report will be found from somewhere around the world which strongly suggests the real existence of the UFO phenomenon, the Crop Circle phenomenon, theanimal dissection (aka “cattle mutilation”) phenomenon, and the alien abduction phenomenon. The details of these phenomena are ignored by many because we have been deliberately and methodically seduced (defined: “act of leading aside”) into the belief that these events are mutually unrelated and that these are fringe topics which we should perceive to have little or no relevance to our daily lives in which obtaining an education, advancing one’s career, raising a family, saving for retirement, maintaining a social life, or simply paying the rent must, of necessity, remain our primary focus in order that we and those we love may continue to thrive. Through our mainstream media this social engineering has been very effectively implemented in an effort to preserve the normalcy of our nation’s society and the very foundations of our global civilization in their present form for as long as possible, and there are many compelling reasons why those who have controlled this information have chosen this path for us. For those like myself, who daily follow new developments with regard to these phenomena, it is becoming increasingly evident that the winds of change are blowing and that we will, in the very near future, find ourselves in the midst of a gale. We need to be prepared for this.

There is no debate that the evolution and maintenance of our present day human civilization has been a very necessary and long-term project, sometimes painful, and oftentimes difficult. Civilization is an ongoing enterprise that should not to be taken for granted and should not be profoundly amended without due cause but, as recent events such as Occupy Wall Street demonstrate, changes in the underlying foundations of our civilization are sometimes wise, justifiable, and in fact necessary as we strive “to create a more perfect union”.

UFO’s and the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012

(Wikipedia): The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) maintains that “the breadth of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act’s (NDAA) detention authority (by the U.S. military of U.S. citizens on U.S. soil) violates international law because it is not limited to people captured in the context of an actual armed conflict as required by the laws of war.”

I propose that the recently passed US Defense Authorization Act of 2012 may be considered as a pre-emptive preparation for the coming gale which will result when Disclosure of the reality of the above listed phenomena, and of their relevance to the present and future of our civilization, is either officially announced or, when it simply unfolds as, perhaps, in some type of District 9 scenario. If you haven’t seen the movie, a large UFO quietly parks itself over Johannesburg, South Africa, with no further contact for three months. Imagine if such an event were to actually transpire tomorrow.

Those who have had a “need to know” fully realize that Disclosure is not completely under their control, and that Disclosure may be precipitated on any given day by the Extraterrestrial Intelligence(s) which have arrived here and which are in fact the group(s) most likely responsible for these otherwise unexplainable yet ongoing phenomena listed above. The specific provisions codified in the NDAA of 2012 manifest unprecedented and blatant infringements upon several amendments in the Bill of Rights of our U.S. Constitution which we have all taken for granted as our protection against actions being taken against us by our own U.S. military in the absence of due process. Now, one decade after 9/11, and with no additional major incidents of terrorism having occurred upon U.S. soil, what imaginable anticipated event could and would motivate, and in fact truly warrant, the passage of the these new and specific provisions of NDAA 2012 which have been willingly signed by our President Barak Obama? And, what nature of event would enable those military personnel so ordered, who are also U.S. citizens, to feel justified in following an order to take military action against their fellow U.S. citizens? One does not need to stand ready the entire U.S. military to deal with a single terrorist, or a small group of terrorists, on U.S. soil. The particular and curious provisions of the recent NDAA of 2012 imply that the ground-work is being laid in anticipation of an event of such profound significance to U.S. national security that the passage of this NDAA 2012, with its blatant disregard of several provisions within our U.S. Constitution, is clearly regarded by our nation’s leadership as justified and necessary.

Those “in the know” have thus far successfully dissuaded the majority of our citizenry from any concerns linking the growing base of evidence which confirms the real existence of these phenomena. These ongoing, recurring phenomena now clearly indicate at least this: we are not alone in this universe and we are currently being contacted by likely more than one alien civilization. Our nation’s leadership must insure that they will always remain one step ahead in order to effectively provide for our nation’s security. They must realize the inevitability of an event which comprises an inescapable tipping-point of irrefutable and undeniable evidence of ongoing visitation of Extraterrestrial Intelligence to our planet is just around the corner, as this is most certainly the reality. Video cameras are now everywhere and a single event, obtained under just the right circumstances and with an adequate ensemble of willing-to-testify eyewitnesses, is all that stands between a normal today and Disclosure tomorrow. Those who believe thatExopolitics is of little concern among those who participate in the think-tanks of Washinton D.C., I believe, are gravely mistaken. Through steps such as NDAA 2012, which are now being taken by the U.S. government / military, when Official Disclosure occurs, or, more likely, when unofficial Disclosure self-manifests, the recently passed provisions of NDAA 2012 will insure that the necessary legal means are already in place to maintain law and order through (now legal) U.S. military action against U.S. citizens on U.S. soil. While there is no question that the specific provisions of NDAA 2012 constitute an obvious and blatant disregard of several amendments within our U.S. Constitution, and while many have for many years disagreed with the philosophy and means by which the “truth embargo” regarding these phenomena has been deliberately manipulated and obscured by those with an officially declared “need to know”, we must also realize that official or unofficial Disclosure, when it occurs, is going to bring a day unlike any other day which has ever dawned for mankind. Our U.S. federal government and our U.S. military are the only extant agencies which will have the mandate and the means to effectively maintain our nation’s security and deal with the potential firestorm which will very likely ensue when our world comes to a full measure of conscious realization of the following:

The Short List of Concerns and Grievances post-Disclosure

New CME

fr/spaceweather.com:

CANYON OF FIRE: A magnetic filament snaking over the sun’s northeastern limb rose up and erupted during the early hours of Feb. 24th. The eruption split the sun’s atmosphere creating a “canyon of fire,” shown here in a movie captured by the Solar Dynamics Observatory:

The glowing walls of the canyon are formed in a process closely related to that ofarcade loops, which appear after many solar flares. Stretching more than 400,000 km from end to end, the structure traces the original channel where the filament was suspended by magnetic forces above the stellar surface.

As erupting magnetic filaments often do, this one launched a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. The Solar and Heliospheric Observary recorded the expanding cloud

Chardonnay Under Attack

New moth species invades Italy’s vineyards

By Victoria GillScience reporter, BBC Nature

New species of leafminer moth (c) Antispila oinophyllaThe moth is common in North America and was first spotted in Italy in 2006
A moth with a taste for Chardonnay leaves, which has infested vineyards across northern Italy, is a new species of leafminer, scientists say.

The pest was first discovered by Italian scientists in 2006, but they were unable to identify it.

Now, by examining a snippet of the moth’s genetic code, researchers have confirmed that it is a previously unnamed species.

The team published their findings in the journal ZooKeys.

The Italian team enlisted the help of insect expert Erik van Nieukerken from the Netherlands Centre for Biodiversity in Leiden.

“We first turned to the [scientific] literature to find out what was already known, which was appallingly little for this group [of moths],” Dr van Nieukerken told BBC Nature.

He and his colleagues used a method known as DNA barcoding to examine a section of the insect’s genetic code.

  • “I figured out that this one, despite being quite common in North America, had no name,” he recalled.

The new species, which now bears the name Antispila oinophylla, had previously been confused with a North American species (Antispila ampelopsifoliella), which feeds on Virginia creeper.

Only the genetic studies revealed it to be a different species with a taste for grapevines. Its native range is across eastern North America, where it feeds on several species of wild grapes.

So far, the species has been found in vineyards in Italy’s Trento and Veneto regions, spreading and increasing in population since it was first recorded.

Having observed the moths in the field, the scientists say that the insect seems to have a preference for the leaves of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat grapes, but they added that the economic impact of this particular pest was not yet clear.

The researchers do not know exactly how the moth arrived in Italy, but Dr van Nieukerken said that it was very easy for the cocoons containing the larvae to be accidentally transported with plant material.

“They’re very small and exactly the same colour as the leaves,” he told BBC Nature. “So if you were carrying plants, you would probably not notice them.

The scientist said that another species from this same group had been discovered in commercial walnut crops and that more needed to be known about the insects.

“This group is very poorly studied,” he told BBC Nature.

“If you know exactly what it is and where it belongs, if you know its evolutionary history…. you can understand better how to control it.”

Dulce, New Mexico, the mysterious “earthquakes” of 1966 and 1967 and Project Gasbuggy

Dulce, New Mexico, the mysterious “earthquakes” of 1966 and 1967 and Project Gasbuggy

Here is a fascinating report which was posted several years ago on the Internet by an anonymous researcher who only went by the name of Firefoot:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=113796814867830262616.0004510b49d1517768f16

This researcher, Firefoot, apparently studied the earthquake epicenters in and around Dulce from January 23, 1966 to December 10, 1967. Apparently unusual “earthquakes” were occuring in these areas nearly a year before Project Gasbuggy took place on December 10, 1967!!

(December 10, 1967 was when the U.S. exploded a nuclear device a mile and a half underground, about 22 miles southwest of Dulce, New Mexico…..it was called Project Gasbuggy and was explained by the U.S. Government as an experiment that would help ease the flow of natural gas trapped under hard, tuffa rocks in the entire region……it was an explosion of 30 megaton bomb, which caused a 5.10 magnitude earthquake in the area, extending all the way to Farmington).

This anonymous researcher, Firefoot, covered all known earthquake information from a point that extends 50km in every direction around the coordinates 37.052N, 106.907W.

He states that for some reason, 95% of the earthquakes occured between 1966 and 1967.
He states that it is possible that there was underground construction occuring.
He then made this map using the USGS/NEIC data.

As you go to his above link, he points out that Red “tacks” show coordinates where MULTIPLE earthquakes occured. Blue “tacks” show places where there was one earthquake only.

He made black grid lines to connect lines of more than TWO earthquakes which happened to happen along a meridian.
He says that the chances of there being so many lines of more than two earthquakes is statistically nil!!

The green and red lines show locations between places where multiple earthquakes occurred where they just happen to measure into perfect triangles. (As stated, lines of these two triangles are marked with green and read.)
“Very strange to say the least!” he says.

He believes explosives and RAND Corp digging machines were used.

But once again, I would like for you to go to the link for more fascinating information that I would like to point out. Please study the link very carefully again and since you can zoom in to any location within this google map/satellite imagery, please do so anytime:

(try to keep it in the satellite imagery mode, as much as possible)

MYSTERY SPOT 18 MILES NORTHEAST OF DULCE, NEW MEXICO:

In his explanation on the left side, he mentions three items of interest:

These three items are Purple “tacks”:

He describes one as a “hangar in the forest”, which is the northwestern point of the equilateral triangle. The equilateral triangle is indicated with purple color. If you zoom in, yes, you can definitely see an isolated building which definitely could be a hangar. This location is slightly south southeast of Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Next he describes a “door in the mountain”. This is the eastern point of the equilateral triangle. What he calls a “door in the mountain” (if you zoom in) appears to be an anomalous spot…a strange area near atop a snow-capped peak (the researcher calls this peak Navajo Peak, and is located about 8 miles northeast of the town of Chromo, Colorado. The anomalous spot (which superficially looks somewhat like a lake) certainly doesn’t fit in because the rest of the area is snow-covered.

(In late 2008 I was contacted by a Los Alamos scientist who first pointed this to me when he visited my home)

Lastly, the researcher, Firefoot, describes an “arrow at Dulce”. This location is at the southern point of the equilateral triangle. If you zoom in, you can clearly tell that it is a building located in the southern area of Dulce. Actually, it is the Dulce Elementary School, located right next to the Stone Lake Road.
If you zoom in, you can clearly see that the arrow is seen on the strangely-configured circular driveway of the school. This is now known among some researchers as the Dulce Arrow.

(Again, in late 2008, the very same Los Alamos scientist who visited me pointed this out to me)

What is most interesting is that from the Arrow of the circular driveway of Dulce Elementary School to the anomalous point on Navajo Peak in Colorado is exactly 18 miles.

And, from the anomalous area high atop the snow-capped Navajo Peak in Colorado to the “hangar” south of Pagosa Springs, is also exactly 18 miles.

And, from the “hangar” south of Pagosa Springs to the circular driveway of Dulce Elementary School is also exactly 18 miles!!

The last three items (i.e., “the door in the mountain”, “the Dulce arrow” and “hangar in the forest”) are summarized in this YouTube piece:

Uncertain about the Uncertainty Principle — Read On

Wacky Physics: New Uncertainty About the Uncertainty Principle

Clara Moskowitz, LiveScience Senior Writer
Date: 21 February 2012 Time: 10:34 AM ET
An atom consists of a nucleus of protons and neutrons, with electrons orbiting around.
The uncertainty principle posits, for instance, that if you make a measurement to find out the exact position of an electron around an atom, you will only be able to get a hazy idea of how fast it’s moving.

One of the most often quoted, yet least understood, tenets of physics is the uncertainty principle.

Formulated by German physicist Werner Heisenberg in 1927, the rule states that the more precisely you measure a particle’s position, the less precisely you will be able to determine its momentum, and vice versa.

The principle is often invoked outside the realm of physics to describe how the act of observing something changes the thing being observed, or to point out that there’s a limit to how well we can ever really understand the universe.

While the subtleties of the uncertainty principle are often lost on nonphysicists, it turns out the idea is frequently misunderstood by experts, too. But a recent experiment shed new light on the maxim and led to a novel formula describing how the uncertainty principle really works.

Perplexing logic

The uncertainty principle only applies in the quantum mechanical realm of the very small, on scales of subatomic particles. Its logic is perplexing to the human mind, which is acclimated to the macroscopic world, where measurements are only limited by the quality of our instruments.

But in the microscopic world, there truly is a limit to how much information we can ever glean about an object.

For example, if you make a measurement to find out exactly where an electron is, you will only be able to get a hazy idea of how fast it’s moving. Or you might choose to determine an electron’s momentum fairly precisely, but then you will have only a vague idea of its location.

Heisenberg originally explained the limitation using a thought experiment. Imagine shining light at a moving electron. When a photon, or particle of light, hits the electron, it will bounce back and record its position, yet in the process of doing so, it has given the electron a kick, thereby changing its speed.

The wavelength of the light determines how precisely the measurement can be made. The smallest wavelength of light, called gamma-ray light, can make the most precise measurements, but it also carries the most energy, so an impacting gamma-ray photon will deliver a stronger kick to the electron, thereby disturbing its momentum the most.

Though not imparting as much disruption to the electron’s momentum, a longer wavelength of light wouldn’t allow as precise a measurement.

Marbles and billiard balls

“In the early days of quantum mechanics, people interpreted the uncertainty relation in terms of such back-reactions of the measurement process,” said physicist Georg Sulyok of the Institute of Atomic and Subatomic Physics in Austria. “But this explanation is not 100 percent correct.”

Sulyok worked with a research team, led by physicists Masanao Ozawa of Japan’s Nagoya University and Yuji Hasegawa of Vienna University of Technology in Austria, to calculate and experimentally demonstrate how much of the uncertainty principle is due to the effects of measurement, and how much is simply due to the basic quantum uncertainty of all particles.

In quantum mechanics, particles can’t be thought of as marbles or billiard balls — tiny, physically distinct objects that travel along a straight course from point A to point B. Instead, particles can behave like waves, and can only be described in terms of the probability that they are at point A or point B or somewhere in between.

This is also true of a particle’s other properties, such as its momentum, energy and spin.

This probabilistic nature of particles means there will always be imprecision in any quantum measurement, no matter how little that measurement disturbs the system it is measuring.

“This has nothing to do with error or disturbances due to a measurement process, but is a basic fundamental property that every quantum mechanical particle has,” Sulyok told LiveScience. “In order to describe the basic uncertainty together with measurement errors and disturbances, both particle and measurement device in a successive measurement have to be treated in the framework of quantum theory.”

Calculating the uncertainty

To test how much this fundamental property contributes to the overall uncertainty, the researchers devised an experimental setup to measure the spin of a neutron in two perpendicular directions. These quantities are related, just as position and momentum are, so that the more precise a measurement is made of one, the less precise a measurement can be made of the other.

The physicists used magnetic fields to manipulate and measure the neutrons’ spin, and conducted a series of measurements where they systematically changed the parameters of the measuring device.

“You have this basic uncertainty, and then by measuring you add an additional uncertainty,” Sulyok said. “But with an apparatus performing two successive measurements, you can identify the different contributions.”

Using their data, the physicists were able to calculate just how the different types of uncertainty add together and influence each other. Their new formula doesn’t change the conclusion of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, but it does tweak the reasoning behind it.

“The explanation that Heisenberg gave is very intuitive,” Sulyok said. “On a popular science level it is hardly ever distinguished at all, and sometimes it’s even not correctly explained in university textbooks. The quantum-mechanically correct calculation reinforced by our experimental data is a valuable step in achieving a more consistent view on the uncertainty principle.”

The results of the study were published in January 2012 in the journal Nature Physics.

New Global Economy fr/Conscious Media Network

A New Global Economy

January 1, 2012

Please spread far and wide. Feel free to embed, Digg, Tweet and Facebook.

(Update available to this original announcement here)

A New Global Economic Restructuring

Conscious Media Network has been approached by a representative of global leaders and financiers from 130 nations to broadcast a statement about a new global economic restructuring arising in 2012.

The statement is delivered via a video-taped interview with a layperson on behalf of the consortium that has been working behind the scenes, on the problem of the unsustainable global economy for the past 8 years. The party who drafted this statement has stated, in response to conspiracy concerns, that “The usual suspects are not the suspects” and that the Global Elite also understand that the unsecured, digital money system has failed us all, including themselves.

This announcement is to serve as the introduction of a New Global Economic Structure that will begin surfacing in 2012. Those involved in this plan are calling it the “greatest humanitarian effort” in modern history. It will be for each of us to determine over time if this is a truthful statement.

CMN is serving as a neutral party for this broadcast and what it claims, as the economic consortium does not wish to break this news through mainstream media at this time. Please give this your serious attention, as it may be heralding a new way of conducting commerce on the planet that will effect us all well into our future. It will be through our understanding and acceptance that this will happen.

A portion of this plan does include a dissolution of debt in a carefully considered and planned way. The plan itself is paradigm shattering, and only hinted at in this video-taped statement.

There will be more to come throughout the year.

New Moon Solar Eclipse

fr/spaceweather.com

SOLAR ECLIPSE: Today, the new Moon passed in front of the sun, off-center, producing a partial solar eclipse. The only place to see it was from space. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) sends this picture from geosynchronous orbit approximately 36,000 km above Earth’s surface:

Using a bank of 16 megapixel cameras, SDO observed the event at multiple extreme ultraviolet wavelengths. Scan the edge of the Moon in this 171 Å image: The little bumps and irregularities you see are lunar mountains backlit by solar plasma.

Beyond the novelty of observing an eclipse from space, these images have practical value to the SDO science team. The sharp edge of the lunar limb helps researchers measure the in-orbit characteristics of the telescope–e.g., how light diffracts around the telescope’s optics and filter support grids. Once these are calibrated, it is possible to correct SDO data for instrumental effects and sharpen the images even more than before.

The next solar eclipse visible from Earth’s surface occurs on May 20, 2012
